Software wanted

Post by olddog »

I have just bought a new computer, which has sample versions of software which last 90 days, then you have got to pay for them.
I use an "office suit" occasionally but not to the extent of wanting to pay a couple of hundred dollars to activate the sample. Does anyone know of an "office suit" that is a free download that is compatible with the windoze version.

I'm not sure this is what you're looking for but this is a free office packet.

+1 on open office

Does everything most people want and is compatible ( reads and writes ) in formats of most of the big name esp MS products

You can lead a horticulture but can you teach a prototype?

Open Office is THE way to go. I've been using it for the last six years. It keeps getting better, it's free, and upgrades are free. I can't say enough about it.

+10 for Open Office and if you dont feel like paying M$ for an OS, you can try out Ubuntu Linux. Its very easy to set up and use and it has great community support.

+1 SB. Yeah, gotta luv it, it's free, easy and very very secure because of it's Linux/Unix subsytem.
I use it on an old laptop for processing and surfing. It doesnt need an Anti-Virus or Firewall. Just cannot beat it.
I have to use windows as my job demands some compatability issues, other than that, I'd completely go Ubuntu...

Virtually every new PC that I prep for my customers gets a copy of OpenOffice... I've sworn by it for years... I also use it on my main office PC which runs Ubuntu Linux...

If linux had support for the games I like, then M$ would be losing me forever. I figure its only a matter of time before someone builds native directx support into it.

Reluctantly I must admit that Windows 7 has been so freakin solid its not funny. The only time I have gotten it to crash was when the cooling block on my cpu popped off...ouch!

While I still like XP the best, I have to admit that Win7 is WAY better than Vista... But I can do almost anything I need to do using Linux so my XP machines are mainly for testing purposes...
