Re: Shinners Flute build.
You just saved me some work OD. I will fill one end of the suppor tube tonight.. Thanks for watching my progress through this build and offering suggestions along the way.olddog wrote:Unless you are bustin to cut off the excess inside the column, I would leave them as they are, it will make a stronger joint, also if you can fill one end of the plate support tube with solder, it will give you a blind thermometer probe port which you will need to control the dephlagmater.

Looking good KS. You making some good progress
I never got into it with a coon but I had the opportunity to see a cat sneak into a rabbit cage and there was a mess of babies bout a week old. That cat got beat from every angle and finally got out that cage within an inch of its life. It was hilarious (I hate cats)
Hey Spooky -- ya got a story that goes along with that line or is it purely circumstantial??Mr.Spooky wrote: . . . on second thought, if that dremel got out of your hand, that would be like sticking your arm in a coon filled tote sack.

Re: Shinners Flute build.
did not get much done again tonight.. I worked on my graham condenser some. I called my plumbing supply house today and priced 2- 3" caps for my graham condenser... Ouch it was going to be $65 for 2 damn caps... I decided there is not any weight to speak of on the condenser, all the weight is really on the coil..I deciced to make my caps, they aint as perdy as store bought but I think they will work... I finished one tonight I will to the other and run the plumbing on it tomorrow.. Dont give me to much hell I no it aint much to look at...

Hell KS,
That's a great guide "How to make a side glass"
Think you're building something beautifull, and so damn fast, I can't keep up with reading.

Re: Shinners Flute build.
hey KY, i noticed in one of your pics that the brass nut on the sight glasses was away from the column about 1/8" or so.
do you think that there would be a problem with puting then flush agenst the column and soldering them to the column?
hope you can understand my question
thanks

Re: Shinners Flute build.
You did the right thing by fabing your own end caps. Those will add alot less weight also.

Re: Shinners Flute build.
I think your end caps look better than store bout ones!
RE: sight glasses and lighting. I think we could use a coupling like you use, but not cut it at all. Solder a cap over the end, drill a small hole, run the LED or whatever light through from behind, with the wire exiting this hole, protected by a cheap rubber grommet. Then add the glass and gaskets as usual. Or am I missing something? I wouldn't look as elegant as these do, but we'd have interior lighting at the flip of a switch.
Question on the deflag: can't we just add a short liebig between the column and the product condenser? Seems like they're the same thing, yet again, not as elegant. Or a simple coil condenser inside the column, at the top?

Re: Shinners Flute build.
Basically I think the Delphag is a huge leibig. But it is made to handle allot vapor, allot more then the normal Liebig. I am pretty sure Im gonna have to through allot of heat to this thing to make it work correctly.
as far as the lighting I do think that would work. and I may later try to do that. but for now I have scratched that. It can be added at a later date...
