I have been violated

Post by olddog »

I got up this morning had my usual couple of cups of coffee, and went outside for a smoke, I noticed my workshop door was open and thought my wife had been in there to get one of her gardening tools. I went into the shop and I was looking to see if the latest generation of my UJSSM had started fermenting, when I noticed something missing, it was not the flute or my power tools or things that you would expect to get stolen. I had six bottles of whiskey labelled and sitting on the shelf, next to it was a 5lt jar oaking and labelled with a bit of masking tape with malted barley written on the tape. On other shelves were 6 jars of UJSSM all oaking and only the distillation date written on the label, but they were still there, some rotten stinking bastard had been in my workshop overnight and stolen my whisky.
It's not the thing that you can report to the police unfortunately. Today I went and got dead bolts, and a separate alarm system just for the workshop, and spent today installing it all.
There are only 5 people who know what I have in there, my neighbors I can trust with the keys to my house, but I have a suspicion who it might be but it would be hard to prove but I do know they have a liking for whisky.
The moral is only let people who you can trust 100% know what you have got.

THE BASTARDS!
It's a shame there wasn't a couple of bottles of foreshots there with a bit of food colouring in them, Then they would of got what they deserved, "THE BASTARDS" It is most of the time some one you know whom you had put some trust in or helped out some way at some stage, Which makes it even worse.

Motion activated CCTV. Get the buggers on tape.

Put your good stuff away and rebottle some commercial cheap booze in your bottles as bait and 'forget' to lock up. Chances are they will come back if they have got away with it once.

Could have been oportunistic kids just rumaging about. Possibly? Still sucks either way.

Seems the word 'bastard' has been tossed around here. I dont belive that word is harsh enough to fit this crime....Fuckers.
I had my garage broke into a while back, lost a bunch of tools and such. But if someone stole my homemade booze, my sweat and blood? That is a violation that would be hard to handle.

OD know just how you feel, worst is that the person or persons knew what to look for. If tools or flute was taken, those could be replaced but batch can not be replaced, its unique. It would have been better to have pants pulled down, bent over and made to squeal like a pig.

Damn olddog! If it were regular run of the mill thieves, they would have been after and taken things worth MONEY. Sounds to me like some kids. Of your friends that know, do any of them have teenage or near teenage kids? Even if it is one kid your friends have, he could have rounded up some of his friends. Check it out.

Serious Bummer.

Unfortunately, chances are that lowlife, or his mates, will be back.

A hidden security camera so you will know who it was... A big ugly dog, or two, with names like No Mercy, and Ball Cruncher... And a serious lock up cage for your spirits, like this one.

Might also wanna consider stashing the beautiful flute and other precious stilling items safely off premises for a while, in case the thieves decide to tell the man about you.

Hope those thieves don't read this forum.

••••••••••

Shit like this is something I have always kinda mentally prepared myself for, so at least I won't be surprised if it does actually happen.

Coincidentally, I have been upgrading security at my place. Already seriously locked down the external roller door in the storeroom (aka stilling room), and put a dead bolt in the solid front door to the house. Next is proper security screens for the windows.

I would worship at the foot of The Great Copper Flute. Especially if it got me a religious exemption from the distilling laws.

It's not like OD can't make more likker or stills. He wasn't sittin on that likker for 10 years or anything like that.

This is more about trust.
Doing something nice for someone. Trying to help and be a good neighbor and fellow human.

Then have that person take advantage of OD's good will is what is the real crime here.

Fuck if I know OD,,,,,the scum bag prolly could knocked on OD's door and asked for the likker and Mike woulda gladly given it to him.

Someone is always trying to take advantage. Ass hole.

Sure is some sound advice here OD, that evil side exists in all of us, its there for a reason...

Quick story for you:
My brother, who is a Major in the Scots Guards, (now retired), actually caught a burgler at 3.30 am. They were trying to steal domestic
items from the home, when he was awakened. He rose from bed and caught them red handed. One of them got away, but by the time the
cops came, my brother had all the information about the burglars accomplise. I arrived at 4:15am along with the cops. I never saw an 18YO
theif so glad to see the law who would prosecute him and his buddy... I swear the guy shit himself...

After the cops had gone I asked my brother why the burglars face was all marked, "Well", he said, "I needed to make sure that my family were
safe before I done my next tour in Iraq". The crim did'nt return to my brothers home and his wife and two children could sleep peacefully knowing
that the punishment metted out to the intruder carried into the circles in which they ran...

But as MK said, if my brother had admitted to the cops that he gave the theif a clump round the head, it would have been him being prosecuted.
Justice is dished in many forms OD an I think you need to make a example if he comes back... 2"x4" sound good to me... If he comes back OD,
have a surprise party waiting for him... In this case, you can't go to the law, therefore you must dish out your own form of it...

Sorry if I sound like friggin maniac here, but sometimes you just gotta act like one...

Hope you an your Missus/Family are not too shaken up by this, its the intrusion rather than the loss of hooch thats the sorest part... :(

I had a guy break into my catering truck once. I heard some noises out back when I got up to pee in the middle of the night. So I made a bunch of noise to scare him off, went to the truck, checked it out - he'd had a feast on the company. On my way back into the house, I saw his get away vehicle, a bike. So I stole it and waited for him to come back for it. I watched him, from the window, as he looked all over for it; he had a perplexed look on his face, kinda like, this really is a bad neighborhood   I gave the bike away to somebody who needed one. bd.

I can’t express enough how I hate thieves.

But see it from the positive side OD:

You are making such a good booze that someone is taking the risks involved to steal it. 8)

What I would do is set them up with a whiskey laced with syrup of ipecac. I keep a couple of bottle in my stash spiked with that stuff for this very reason. If I ever do get robed at least I'll have the satisfaction of knowing their having a bad day to.

It is a very sad day, olddog... There is nothing worse than the feeling of violation that comes with the theft of personal property, or even just the unauthorized intrusion of personal space... I won't say what would happen if I was to experience such a situation but it wouldn't be nice for the offender...
