need some direction after first run

started with the dwwg recipe, followed recipe to a tee,fermenting turned out good,4th day bubbles slowed way down, racked into clean container to set for a couple of days untilday off, had some sediments settle to the bottom, filled my pot with about 4 gal of wash leaving sediments out, Sealed every thing with flour and water paste,started pot still every came up good, about 45 min to hour started to get forshots, collected 200ml and discarded,jar #1 filled with 500ml had good smell,but had a bite to it, #2 jar 500ml smelt good tasted alittle better not really any bite, jar #3-5 500ml in each smelt good had good tast and little smooth,jar #6 500ml smelt great tasted good a little sweeter but started to have little white floaties in it, jar #7 500ml smelt good tasted sweet but the floaties in it started to turn darker and had what looked like an film on top,so i shut down,not knowing what was going on be my first run,(Question 1 does every thing seem to be in order)(question 2 could the floaties be the flour becuase when i broke the still down some of the paste had the same color)(question 3 what i pulled off should be good right,have coffe filters on them , airing becuase i dont know my cuts that why every thing is 500ml)(question4 should i just kept going with process),Whole time was getting 3 or 4 drops a second to very small stream back to 3 or 4 drops. Every jar takes a flame in spoon except may be #7 but will in plate, Trying to do this by smell,taste and sigh. Should i buy the hydrometer and alcholmeter, dont really want to but if i need to to get a feel for what im doing i will. Every thing seemed to be going good

was that the first time you ran alcohol in that still?

you did a vinegar cleaning run?

yes first run with still ,and yes did a vinegar run ,tried to keep everything as clean as possible

Trying to do this by smell,taste and sigh.

That's a good way to go for sure.

Should i buy the hydrometer and alcholmeter, dont really want to but if i need to to get a feel for what im doing i will.

Also a good idea. I didn't have an alcometer for the longest time, but I'm really glad I have one now. Good to know proof of stuff. I've yet to use it for cutting. Hydrometer is good for washes. Good, luck, bd.

As Pikluk stated, your first wash is a sacrificial run which should be tossed... It is cleaning out what the vinegar and water left behind... Your next run can be a keeper...
