phpbb site search has been temp disabled

I have turned off searching (for now).

This has some side effects, I spotted. I have also received a few PM's so others are also seeing. These things rely on searching, and until it is back on, will not work.

1. The 'search' link is gone.
2. The 'new posts' link (it is actually gone).
3. The 'active posts' link.
Probably some others.

The 'Forum Google search' link works fine (use the hell out of it, it is googles CPU / database that is hit, not HD's).

I was planning on building a static page for the 'search' link, that simply lists to use the google search link. However, some of these other 'searches' may also be pretty CPU intensive. Yes, I hate having the 'active posts' link gone (that was my mainstay of keeping up to date on what was posted), but if turning off searching for a short while can help us to keep the site up, It is something that has to be done.

i really never new how much i relied on the " view your post" feature,,, or the "view active topic" feature.
its the only way that i knew to keep up with my posts, and the ones that most interested me. now im lost

is anybody else bumping around in the dark?

It's really annoying without the "view new posts" button. All other forums I regularly visit have it so I won't get used to it either.
