What's up over there, with the weather, fires, floods, flatulence...

Did they run out of Virgins to sacrifice?

Good Luck...

Glad to hear that you and yours are OK KL. :)

Back in December our family's 100 year-old cottage was flooded almost to the ceiling. Others were far more badly affected when they lost their homes. - I guess catastrophes do tend to readjust our priorities. :(

Why sweat the small stuff, indeed :?: :!: :?:

Well wishes very appreciated, seeing much devastation on the news from here in Wellington- the media is focussing on Christchurch city at the moment, but no doubt many outlying areas affected, also many were cut off so not much if any details filtering out from those areas at this stage. Centered only 10km from ChCh and only 5km deep at 6.4 so an extremely intense quake. Casualty numbers expected to rise from 65 confirmed at this stage, many people trapped under debris, buildings, etc, bodies and survivors being pulled out, rescue efforts will continue through the night 24/7. Offers of help coming in from Oz, US, Japan and many other countries. Power, water, waste services etc out, many people homeless or cut off from their homes and sheltering in parks and rescue centers. It really is a disaster zone, and so many affected, there are large numbers of tourists, students etc in the area too so it will be far-reaching. A lady I work with got a short text from her husband who is working down there immediately after the quake that said he is ok, but nothing since, we're all hoping he's escaped the disaster, she is naturally on tenterhooks. Thoughts go out to all affected.

I thought Tony Ackland (AUTHOR of the parent site), was from Christchurch. Can anyone confirm that this is so (or not so).

Current fatality list is 75 dead and 300 missing. It is expected to rise dramatically. People have had limbs amputated to free them. What a bastard of a thing to happen. We australians and new zealanders constantly put shit on each other, but really we are mates. This just sucks!

After shocks are causing problems in Christchurch and several buildings are known to have people inside but all forms of search and location indicate that there are no signs of life. The official figure is still seventy five fatalities. Yet, they are still locating people who have survived but these are becoming less frequent. There are still many unaccounted for people in the Christchurch Television Corporation and other large office buildings. It's very nasty, to put it very mildly. There are rescue teams from NZ, USA and Australia working their guts out to help find people. Probably more, but that's all I see on TV.

There is no sewage, no water, and I imagine no power or fuel. Estimates of damage repair are around sixteen billion dollars, probably a very conservative esitmate at that.

Looting has begun and one has to wonder about this type of person and how to deal with them. Government murder simply reduces the community to the same gutter level as the looters themselves, but severe punishment is deserved IMO. I dunno??????

Where will the southern hemispere shit end???????????? I think that the gods are pissed of really badly and Mother nature is beginning to react. If/when this shit hits the northern hemisphere, the disasters here will seem like a sunday school picnic at the beach. Ive never been so pleased to be an old bastard.

Lawless mob mentality kicks in fairly rapidly after any major catastrophe... Never could figure it out... Law abiding citizens one day, wretched thieves the next... And they don't just take what they need, they take whatever they want... Some figure that insurance will cover the losses, but they are wrong... Insurance doesn't cover natural disasters in most cases...

Very sad but the city of christchurch new zealand has ben devestated by this earthquake ...
im 3 hours away from there in the mountains ...but hell i felt it here .
.was rather an amazing feeling in my log cabin as she swayed and creeked but stayed solid .im now convinced they are safe as ya can get (in a shake anyway) .we are getting many more if you look on geonet
i can feel the earth rolling constantly here .......
many people missing streets 1 mtr higher than they used to be ,bridges gone ..buildings and houses everywhere totally demolished..sewers wrecked.water pipes burst everywhere.
a lady friend had a massive rock smack through her back door go straight through the house and punch out the front door her house is totaled
my mate was milling a huge tree down there(approx1.2 mtrs across the girth)
he said it was dancing around like a pencil he tried to run from it and got thrown in the air ..he went back to the log were and there was a huge crack in the ground were he was standing and the sawdust fallen in ...man oh man what power
they always new christchurch sat on a swamp mostly .its not the best place for man to build ..
all my family safe ,but a mate that turned up last night from out on the water .is going to find his friend that no-one has heard from ..the military camp outa ch-ch has been set up as a temp morg' and ther is still many buried and missing ..
times like this make us realise how small petty shit is so unimportant ,we are all human,we al make mistakes but the bottom line is .to care and be kind of your fellow man ..
my family o.k so far that live there as far as i know ..its hard to ring in there all the phones are a tad buggered also
empty cheers for your kind thoughts

theres a chap here called mr moon ..hes saying some different stuff .he predicts the wether based on the moons phases etc ..he gets it pretty close ...
after the hit ch-ch took in september 2010 that did almost as much damage ..mr moon and all the high tech earthquake predicters got together and predicted christchurch was going to take another good hit ..
well he was 2 days out ..
the day it hit was 2 days off the full moon ..Ive just had my friend come off the sea he livesup the top of south isalnd ...he mentioned its been really wierd the tides have been about 3-4 foot higher than normal ....umm ??????????
the moon has some power ...wonder if this and all the planets line up do smack the punches like he predicts

All good :) few family memebers without houses, but nothing more than broken bones amoungst my close relations. Manback's house is completely destroyed apparently, but he's ok. azeo was fine in wellington. Don't think we had that many chch members that were active in posting. Best series of photos showing the happenings I've found is here.

It'll be many years until Christchurch recovers. I'm hopefully flying down soon to help family rebuild - my sister's house was right over the epicentre, not much left of it standing.

Thanks for all the thoughts heading this way, other countries have been great in getting U-SAR teams here promptly. Those guys are amazing.

Good to hear from you kiwi and that yer OK. Those pictures are terrifying. I live over some kinda epi centre too and every time something like this happens elsewhere, we get inundated with "what about when it happen here" stories. Judging from the photos ... . I saw a news item showing just regular folks searching for buried bodies and one guy picked up a huge stone (I mean huge) and flung it away like it was a ball of cotton. You could just feel the hope and adrenalin. Take care.

Sixteen billion dollars to rebuild is a jeffing lot of money for a country as small as enzed especially when they already have economy problems - bit like the rest of this greedy jeffing world. Maybe they should adopt Australia, although what's the point? depending on which liar one listens to we're also broke.
There was however, an overnight miracle. It seems that the seventy five confirmed fatalities are now only seventy one confirmed fatalities.

Where would we be without politicians and their loyal pubic serpents?

Dude! Your lady friend was on the morning news here in OZ this morning. WOW! So lucky that no one was home. The boulder was taller than the reporter.
