FEDS just came in to town

Post by ozone39 »

So I"m driving down the road yesterday and one of the marijuana care-takers is getting all of their plants thrown out into the parking lot by FBI and DEA agents. BIG pile, probably 400 or 500 plants, and big ones. Made for some good news around here....There were ten businesses busted around the state....One of them had 1700 (yes 170 x 10) plants confiscated. People around here are getting pretty upset about the whole thing, guess the warrants were pretty vague.

ozone39, it would be worth mentioning that you live where growing is somewhat legal at the state level but still a crime at the federal level... Remember, we don't talk about marijuana here... Although some of us may have a desire that it also be legalized, for now it is still a federal crime to grow or possess...

For what it's worth, I just spoke to a friend that lives near there and he was telling me that the DEA has been checking people who has been advertising in the paper to sell and for folks who have messed up on paper work. And yes, it's much better when Santa comes to town.

Defending the right of others is the only possible gaurantee that you will have the rights you deserve.

I can add an anecdote related to personal rights, more or less... Some years ago I was pulled over for speeding on a busy thruway where I was going roughly 80MPH in what was then a 55MPH zone... When asked by the state trooper if I knew what the speed limit was I simply stated "Right now it's 80 miles per hour because if I drive any slower I will cause a traffic hazard.", motioning for him to observe the passing traffic... Having been presented with a logical answer the trooper merely conceded in agreement, told me to drive safely, and allowed me to go on my way... "The People" had collectively agreed upon the speed limit, en masse, not the law...

I live right in the middle of growing country, I literally know more folks growing pot then have air conditioner. I really don't have any sympathy for some dumb shit growing 1000 plants, I mean what the hell did they think was going to happen? Legal on the state level or not that's probably more glaucoma medication then every patient in the state could use in a year.

These guys aren't growing for personal use or even to make a good living, a guy down the road from me has more pickup truck then the ford dealership, I'm not kidding. An indoor grow like is 800k a year without even trying, this is big business not some old hippie growing a few plants. These folks want to keep it illegal, there's no money in if it's legal, they just don't want to get busted. At a million dollars I don't feel to bad for them, they knew the risks.

Then you get into the environmental impacts, most growers when the get busted skate the grow charges but get nailed on environmental law.

Idk I'm just tiered of running into salmon hooks and running into guys with kalashnikovs guarding their grows when I'm just out minding my own business.

I agree, there's more grow around here than ever. I wish they would legalize it and let law enforcement get onto the drugs and crimes that are significant.
