Welcome Peabody. Is it a vodka, or a whiskey? If it's a Vodka, just carbon filter it - get some distillers carbon, or in a pinch, use a Brita water filter.

Welcome to the forum! If you want answers to your questions we need a little more information, what type of cuts did you make, what recipe did you use on your fermentation,......(Read up in the new member lounge and get back to us).

Hey there Peabody. Welcome! Could be a lot of things cause odorous (taint) on your likker so plenty of time to get more info, etc. But, just off the top of my head, other than making sure your gear is in good/clean working order and you are starting with a good, clean mash/ferment, I'd say the first place to look would probably be "cuts". If you've never done them, or don't know what they are, that's probably the first thing I'd look up here. There's a thread in the readme section on cuts might be a good place to start. Other things to check would be ferment/yeast. If your yeast get stressed, or you get bacterial infections in your wash/mash. Use of turbo yeasts..or fermenting too high abv causing yeast stress are common causes of off tastes/taint. Lots to check into!!

Rad you made me spit a sip of perfectly good vodka right out my nose.

(I think it helped my sinuses though.)
