hi people my name is terry
I have wanted to build a still since I was 12 year's old my body will be 61 on may 1 but my head is stuck at around 9 years old go figure. My wife has the big C
and isn't doing to well and I need to find something to do in my retirement to keep my mind of reality . a still is something that has alway's interested me when I was a kid I made a small still out of some glass tubeing and jar's and distilled some tomatoe wine that ended up tasteing like total crap but after it came out of the still it was more than very good everyone liked it a lot and wanted me to make more it was great for a while but my mom found out and that was the end. My work life was as a machinist I made all manner of thing's ship repair ,pumps ,job shop work, tool room stuff and so on but always what the boss wanted me to make never what I wanted oh well. but I want to make a still to play around with and run my car maybe who know's . I dont drink very much hurt my bak in 1981 and have been takeing PAIN PILLS since booze dosn't set real well but a stiff drink once in a while is ok if I am careful I have raised 5 kids and have 11 grands and they are still comeing hope my wife will be around to see them grow. any ideas on a still that I can make with the plans would be apriciated and remember

State side or north american water heaters are not a good choice at all. Need to find and old unit made with a copper tank.....Good luck with that.

Really hard to beat the beer keg boiler. 20 liter stove top would be about the smallest recommended. Some members do run smarller rigs but lilely wish they had the space for bigger.

I cut down an old copper water heater to use for something else and the amount of crud on the inside was unreal.
Took ages to clean it off with the grinding wheel of an angle grinder.
I am having second thoughts about using the old water heater I have, as a boiler.

thanks for all your welcomes I have been away for a couple week's takeing care of the wife but I have been reading every chance I get so I am around the web site every day I have not answered any post due to time and my computer screen jumps in the middle of my typeing a post and I lose all that I have typed and I have to start over this is no.2 so far thanks for letting me know about the cap's lock I am very easy going about thing's so any other error's that I make just let me know I promise not to come after you ok.

I once worked with a man from translvania who gave me some spirits made from holly berries by his granddad it was strong but not real tasty but very interesting holly grows all over around where I live and I would like to try makeing it if I had a recipe. does anyone know about it or where to find it.
personly i always though holly was poisone but dont know for sure well I am going to sine off know be happy it's the best way

Sounds like you are on a laptop computer if it is skipping around on you. This is probably due to the fact that your thumb is hovering over the pad causing you to move the curser. You can turn the pad off and use an external mouse if this is a problem for you.

Dont know about holly berries terry, often thought that they were used medicinally but caused nauseousness...

Maybe it was some kind of neutral infusion going on there, would'nt want to put a wash made of them through the still...

I'll see what I can dig up on the subject... Interesting....

Do some research and I believe you will find that most if not all of the holly berry's found in the northwest are poisonous.
Take a nature hike and see if you ever observe a bird or a deer eating those berries.

I started on the 20 qt stove top and quickly discovered it was just to small

Get a 15 gallon stainless beer keg and go from there.

Read the Parent Site about 3 or 4 times COMPLETELY

Then the questions you might ask today for the most part will have been answered
