Morning y'all. Over the last few months I've been having a few problems with my PTSD to the extent that It's really affecting my general well being and behaviour so I've decided that perhaps it's time for me to quit the forum before my recent ravings become detrimental to craft distilling generally.

I haven't made any spirits for many months now so I'm sorta no longer a 'legitimate' shiner and I reckon it's probably best that I fuck off before I cause serious problems. It's been a fun few years and I owe HD a lot, but it's time to call it a day.

Only you truly know when it's time to say "when" and if this is your time then you know we can all respect that decision... No need to ban yourself... I think I speak for everyone in these forums when I say that there is no need for you to not remain a member here, and whether you choose to participate here or not is totally your decision... That way you can come back here whenever you see and feel fit, to participate or just plain kick some ass... I'm sure you've thought long and hard about this and it surely wasn't easy for you to openly state your current situation and feelings...

I don't think it's possible for a guy with your experience and knowledge to say anything that is detrimental to our craft. It is a STRONG team that has members who have the guts to say things that may go against the grain of some, or even the majority, when that member has strong feelings and/or beliefs. While I may not always agree with you, the fact that you give me pause to consider my thoughts/position has to be a plus. Only WEAK leadership (and membership) needs to surround itself with "yes-men" who do not have the guts to say "no" or to question the work of others in the team when many others are saying "yes".

I disagree. - Please stay, unless you feel that it's in YOUR best interest to go. Of course, "fucking off" might give you some additional pleasure - but only if your words were meant literally.

Your expertise, patience, wit and straight from the hip comments shine through in your posts, even if some of the recipients were a little testy...

Gonna compare me with you some: I am probably older than you, 75+; I used to teach flying and loved flying like you; I used to keep bees and loved it. There are many other comparisons, but I will quit there. Too old to fly, and too old to lift supers and mess around with bees. Kin people more or less made me quit 'stilling. They were worried about my safety. I live by myself.

Too old for a bunch of stuff I used to enjoy, but am I going to give up. HELL NO!!! I substituted wine making for whiskey making, and actually enjoy it better. I will not go into the other substitutions because I think you understand what I am getting at.

What I am saying is this: Do not give up. Find a substitute for what you cannot do anymore or do not enjoy doing anymore, and keep on going. Keep the brain active, and the body too as much as possible. If this old man which has as much in common with you as I think we do can readjust to growing old, you can too.
