Sick old man

Post by blanikdog »

Morning y'all. Over the last few months I've been having a few problems with my PTSD to the extent that It's really affecting my general well being and behaviour so I've decided that perhaps it's time for me to quit the forum before my recent ravings become detrimental to craft distilling generally.

I haven't made any spirits for many months now so I'm sorta no longer a 'legitimate' shiner and I reckon it's probably best that I fuck off before I cause serious problems. It's been a fun few years and I owe HD a lot, but it's time to call it a day.

Good luck in the cause of HD and to all who sail in her, and thanks. I'm now going to ban myself before it becomes a nasty job for one of the admin..

You aren't fooling any of us here... :lolno: Suck it up, Buttercup...

But, seriously, I wholeheartedly understand where you're coming from - I think... Only you truly know when it's time to say "when" and if this is your time then you know we can all respect that decision... No need to ban yourself... I think I speak for everyone in these forums when I say that there is no need for you to not remain a member here, and whether you choose to participate here or not is totally your decision... That way you can come back here whenever you see and feel fit, to participate or just plain kick some ass... I'm sure you've thought long and hard about this and it surely wasn't easy for you to openly state your current situation and feelings...

Good luck in wherever life's road leads you my friend...

Good Luck, you're part of the fabric here at HD, and you balance out the Mentors.

I'm with Rad, you can step back for a while and let life smooth out.

Thanks.

Damn. You don’t have to go. Having ornery old farts here to kick some butt is part of what makes this site what it is.

Nasty job, but somebody has to do it. :D :D :D :D

I wish you fair seas and safe travel in your journeys.

Good luck.

I don't think it's possible for a guy with your experience and knowledge to say anything that is detrimental to our craft. It is a STRONG team that has members who have the guts to say things that may go against the grain of some, or even the majority, when that member has strong feelings and/or beliefs. While I may not always agree with you, the fact that you give me pause to consider my thoughts/position has to be a plus. Only WEAK leadership (and membership) needs to surround itself with "yes-men" who do not have the guts to say "no" or to question the work of others in the team when many others are saying "yes".

So what :!: It's like riding a bike, isn't it? Once a 'shiner, always a shiner. But slowing down a bit is OK too.

I disagree. - Please stay, unless you feel that it's in YOUR best interest to go. Of course, "fucking off" might give you some additional pleasure - but only if your words were meant literally. :D

I hope admin refuses to accept your "resignation" as a mod, let alone from membership of this board. But, if you need a short break, that's fine too.

Whatever you decide - You take care. You have been a generous contributor to this board. Lots of positive advice given which would be missed by many.

Take care Mr. Blanik ! ! !
It is not the matter, nor, the space between the matter,
but rather, it is that finite point at which the two meet,

I feel that HD's headlights just dimmed... :( So ye aint goin no where, ye here... :lolno:

Blanikdog, I wish you all the best that life has for you. Like most here on HD, you were won of the safest stepping stones to land on when making the transition from novice to shiner. Your expertise, patience, wit and straight from the hip comments shine through in your posts, even if some of the recipients were a little testy...

Take care my friend. But should you find yourself with the same feelings of loss that we are experiencing, then come home...

Three cheers for the Blanikdog, HIP HIP...

WTF? My internets down for one day and this is what I come back to. I take it from the nature of your goodbye post that you are serious and resolute in your decision to leave the forum, so I'm not gonna ask you to stay, though I wish you wouldn't go. I like you, you old Mongrel, and consider you a good friend. Go if you must but keep your membership and check in on us once in a while and at least say hi. We'll be here. See ya later, Blanik.

Gonna compare me with you some: I am probably older than you, 75+; I used to teach flying and loved flying like you; I used to keep bees and loved it. There are many other comparisons, but I will quit there. Too old to fly, and too old to lift supers and mess around with bees. Kin people more or less made me quit 'stilling. They were worried about my safety. I live by myself.

Too old for a bunch of stuff I used to enjoy, but am I going to give up. HELL NO!!! I substituted wine making for whiskey making, and actually enjoy it better. I will not go into the other substitutions because I think you understand what I am getting at.

What I am saying is this: Do not give up. Find a substitute for what you cannot do anymore or do not enjoy doing anymore, and keep on going. Keep the brain active, and the body too as much as possible. If this old man which has as much in common with you as I think we do can readjust to growing old, you can too.

I wish you the best.

WTF am I going to do now? I've always been able to say, "well at least I'm not as ornery as Blanik" now I'm left to be the biggest pecker head on the board. Thanks ass hole. :wtf:

Seriously don't jump the gun, we need guys like you around. Things can get a little overwhelming but they always straiten themselves out, they always have in the past right? Get your shit straight and get on back here if it's the right thing for you.

Your a good man and a friend.
