None whatsoever... The only difference is in the amount of vapor stacking you will get in the added head space which isn't a bad thing at all...

I just a pot still and propane small 3 gal spirit run of UJSSM sweet mash low wine in my 15.4 sanky keg. I also was a little leery of the small volume in the 15 gal boiler but there was absolutely no problem. Don't know what type you use but I would recommend it start it at a low heat, with a small volume you can start off with a "runaway" still if not careful.

Good Luck

Hackware, if you know a bartender or some who manages or runs a bar you should be able to get your keg for free. In WA there is a keg deposit of $30. You might be able to get one from a bar or restaurant if you know someone. Could save a little money. Just a thought.

If you plan to go with Emerson heating elements at a later date. This could effect how much you can run. The elements would need to be covered throughout the whole run. But gas shouldn't be a problem. As long as you don't run it dry.

For an immersion heater, first fill the boiler with water, just to the point where the heating element is totally covered. Then load your 1/2 still charge on top of that. You will never run the element dry, IF YOU PAY ATTENTION during the run, lol.

That's what I was trying to imply. I guess I should've just said it plain out.
