Strange you couldn't find a three ring burner....
Here in Aus they are in every camping gear shop along with two and four ring burners.
The three was about .... $40 Au

We haven't got the money so now we have to think
Build it, don't buy it

Sorry LW, I thought you were joking about the flip flops. I've had some pretty nasty steam burns from boiling tea kettles and they hurt like hell. Also had a boiling tea kettle fall onto my leg and the scalding hot water ended up in my boot. Nothing funny about a burn ...LWTCS wrote:Funny for you.
I don't move so good any more. I only have enough "spring in my step" to audibleize my displeasure.
Could drop 20 pounds I guess,,,,,or put the dump valve and hose on my next boiler.
I do all my own stunts

Is there something magic about a three ring burner? I have a single ring Bayou Classic that puts out plenty enough heat to run a beer keg boiler.hackware wrote:oh, i found a few, in new zealand and austrailia, but nobody would ship to usa...

I was thinking exactly the same Fastill. Mine's the same. I use an 8" outer ring with a 5" inner ring ander a fifty litre boiler. As soon as the heat is right - using the spirit flow, NOT a thermometer - I turn the large ring off, reduce the small one to give a steady pencil lead flow and there is not a sound apart from my occaisional fart (which I do to cover the smell of ethoFastill wrote:I don't know what kind of propane burners some of you are running but I bought a cast Iron camp stove, my keg sits right on top of it, heats up 10 gallons in about 1hr15min. and I have to look under the keg just to see if it is on. Literally can NOT hear it run. Like an indoor propane stove burner but made for camping.

I shudder to think of the boiler size that requires a burner that makes any discernable sound. Maybe I'm more deaf that I thought , but the missus agrees that the noise is the least of my problems, of which - according to a couple of forum members - I have many.

Simple potstiller. Slow, single run.
(50 litre, propane heated pot still. Coil in bucket condenser - No thermometer, No carbon)

Cumudgeon and loving it.

Could this be considered a safety risk? If not for the fact it is a flammable gas near a open flame. But also the risk to others health that may be in smelling distance?blanikdog wrote: there is not a sound apart from my occaisional fart (which I do to cover the smell of etho)

Thought I had had some bad dump outs but that one is too funny LWTCS, I'll try to remember not to pull that one. Still laughing.
The burner I have now is a jet engine but my old one was one of the circle type burners and it was quiet.
