Welcome to the forum, the still looks ok however the nixon stone design is a bit outdated but if it draws 96% your not going to get any better than that. I am not sure about ebay Australia but I know a few others have been a bit disappointed in some of the still purchases in the US. Have you thought about building your own, it is a lot cheaper and the satisfaction of designing and building a still is great.

That isn't a Nixon Stone offset head, it is a simple Cooling Management design using an external reflux sleeve and an inside out liebig condenser where the coolant flows up the center rather than enveloping the vapor path down the center...

stinkypete, you can probably do better for less...

If your after a still for vodka have a look at a boka - proven design that works, do a search and you'll get a lot of results.

I can build a still OK, but the shipping to QLD would be expensive, as a reflux still build from 2"tubing to a ratio of 24 to one would end up around 1.4 metres tall including the condenser coil. Aus post will not accept anything longer than 1 metre, so it would have to be shipped by courier, and unless you have a commercial account with a courier, they will not accept it. Pack and Send are the only people who will accept private shipments, and they charge like a wounded bull. You should be able to find a member in QLD who can help, it would be a big saving on shipping.

You are right I looked at the still thinking in my mind it looked decent enough then read the article without going back and reviewing the picture. I would be a little nervous of someone giving the wrong information in their advertiisment!

I can see where the confusion arose from, Bushman... Most of the published Nixon Stone research covers Liquid Management design with minimal reference to Cooling Management... I'd be skeptical as well...
