Fingers crossed here... Been wondering how Barb has been doing, and even more so after your recent post about her not being able to enjoy Halloween... Keep us posted on the prognosis...

Re: Prayers wanted
I never saw this thread first time around as I am new. Very sorry to hear about it. I know first hand twice now how scary this stuff can be.
I lost my father to lung cancer 6 years ago, and last Monday I took my mother to the hospital because her back pain was not getting better. She had been diagnosed with sciatica at the beginning of the summer, was told to take it easy for a few months and it would heal up. Last week she started calling me needing me to go to her house to help her up and down the stairs and her vision was almost gone. Finally talked her to going to the ER on Monday, because of her neurological problems they did a a CT on her head. Found "Numerous" tumors. Doctors still cant give me an answer as to how many but that's beside the point. They also found tumors in her adrenal glands and lymphnodes, and a large tumor in her left lung. They diagnosed it as stage 4 lung cancer.
The plan at this point is treatment aimed at making her quality of life better. They have told us there is no chance at this point.
Don't want to scare you or anything as it looks like this has been working well for you guys for a long time and docs got things in time and have been able to keep up treating it. Just saying sadly for my mom they did not find it until it was way too late.

Re: Prayers wanted
Husker, I am so sorry to hear this news. The good thing to remember is Barb has been keeping on top of this thing, and it didn't get too far out of control. Had it gone on for several years, she would be in for big trouble. Tell Mrs H. that there is an old Bohunk, and his wife out there thinking about her, and wishing her a speedy recovery. I haven't been down your way for a long time, been working Lincoln during football season, but I'll be there soon, and expect to see both of you then. Give Barb a hug for Tess and I, and you -- you keep strong.

Rotten news Jim. Give my best regards to Barb. And the same regards to yourself. Good luck with it all. Sad news.

Re: Prayers wanted
I am currently sitting next to my soulmate, on her death bed. Tonight, is likely the night. I will not write much more right now, nor likely reply for a while.
I feel very fortunate to have had such a wonderful friend, lover soulmate. I know that I am truely a lucky person for being the one to know her in the way I have, these 19 years (as of July2). We had a resurgance for about 48 hours and have been in the Hospice Home for about 24 hours. During those 48 hours (still at home), I was able to schedule visits from about 40 people. Barb is at peace, and has had direct contact to say what she needed to, to the key family and friends, and grandbaby.
Again, I will not be around for a short while, but will be on the site in spirit.
Peace all. H.

I know we don't know each other personally Husker, but I am truly sorry to hear about your wife. Not that its even close to the same, but I lost what would have been my father-in-law last summer to cancer and it's very tough going through the treatments and hospitals and doctors, really the whole damn situation just sucks.I will keep you both in my prayers. Again I'm truly sorry, but you have a whole community here for ya. Take care and keep your chin up

A saying that really helped me when my father passed
God didn't promise days without pain,
laughter without sorrow,
sun without rain,
but He did promise strength for the day,
comfort for the tears,
and light for the way

Re: Prayers wanted
Barb passed about 45 minutes after my post (well, 59 minutes later is the 'official' time of death). She had labored breaths, that simple became a little less labored and shallow, and simply stopped. Very serene and peaceful. Very beautiful. i do not feel up to posting something eloquent tonight. I simply am too tired. It has been only 6 hours past, and almost all immediate things have been taken care of. I felt a tremendous weight lifted off of my chest. There is a new weight there now, but it is not so heavy, and it will fade with time.Hello all, I thought I had posted before, but I guess I have not. I passed exceedingly peacefully, while talking to my best friend from HS. I was so peaceful, she did not even know I had passed for some while, and was not sure even after the event that I was gone.
I will be offline for a while, I simply have other priorities. I love you all, and thank you much for your kind thoughts. This board is the first of many where I will post. This post is 100% informal, where on other sites, I will spend more time, and write it 'good'. Here, we are simply buds, hangin out at the bar, slappin backs, swappin lies, enjoying each others company. This is the ppl I want to be around, without any concern for what the fuk I say, good or bad.
I went out for coffee with my sis inlaw, who will also be with me at the crematorium later today (when normal people wake up). She asked me a funny question, which my fuzzy tired brain did not catch at first, but which after she saw my confused look and explained a little more, was VERY deep. She simply asked 'well, what are your plans now?' I have been heads down, husband, caregiver, nurse, coordinator, etc, etc, etc for months. I have been with Barb 24/7 for the past 6 weeks, addressing every beckoning whim or need. WOW, now what do I do?? Hell, I went to work 1 day last month, hmmm. what do I do? I think after i get some additional loose ends tied up, I am going to grab a couple bottles, some brew, head to the camper, and hang for a week, watching the camp fire, and drown some worms and chicken livers, and pondering that question a little. For such a simple short question, it really WAS very deep. I 'will' be fine, but this is going to be my world flipped upside down for a while.
Peace all. cu soon.

Jim, you will be in our thoughts, Barb was such a sweet lady, my wife and I liked her alot and wished we could have spent more time with you two. I can't even begin to imagine giving up my soul mate. Hope you can find peace, and the strenght to care on, your a strong guy and you'll make it. Just stay out at the lake and dround some worms, sip a little UJSM and rest up. I'll bring you a little sample of what I've been up to next trip down your way.
