Sugar Wash
Hey yall, I am new at this and have been looking through the site and haven't found a answer to a sugar wash. I recently made a sugar wash and I used 3 gallons of water to 5 pounds of sugar and one packet of active dry yeast and that is it. Did I need to add nutrients to this? I tried to find it on here and haven't had any luck. If I did something wrong does anybody have a straight recipe for a sugar wash using granulated sugar?

"New distillers reading lounge"
"Tried and true recipes"
I'd post the links but you might pick up a thing or two down the yellow brick road.

Birdwatchers in the tried and true section is probably one of the easiest sugar washes to cut your teeth on!

One of the best thing about this site is the tried and true recipes. You won't believe it but they are tried and true and really work. I like wineos because it finishes so clean. Read and distill and you will get there. I have read several threads in here I've 30 times.

I was looking at the same thing but in "Tried and true washes" there isn't anything about straight sugar washes, maybe im not seeing it. Can someone point it out.

Re: Sugar Wash
There is no such thing as a straight sugar wash because you need some form of nutrients, whether shooting for flavor or not... All Bran, Gerber, Birdwatchers, Wineos Plain Old Sugar Wash, and Death Wish Wheat Germ are all reliable sugar washes that can either be pot stilled for flavor or run through a reflux column for neutral spirits... I pot still All Bran, Gerber, and Birdwatchers all the time for everyday drinking stock and then reflux the feints from those runs for crisp clean neutral spirits...HighNOON wrote:I was looking at the same thing but in "Tried and true washes" there isn't anything about straight sugar washes, maybe im not seeing it.
