Hi to all,
As promised some pic's of my Baby's. The first is all stainless steel and stands about 600mm from the top of the keg, at the bottom the vapour has to go through a series of chambers and steel wool before traveling upward through the chimbly to the upper level where it is condensed by a 1/4" SS tubing Graham style, carring water.
The second is the one we are running at the moment, She dosn't look real pretty but She works real good 96% Good. Lets start at the bottom, 50l Keg, 1400mm of 2" copper 2/3 packed with marbles, 4 pases of 3/8 copper for reflux, pipe to condenser is 11/8 into Liebig reducing on entry to7/8, condenser OD is 11/2 with 3/8 water supply. Water recurc by 1/4HP post mix style pump out of 3 44Gal drums, we have to change drums during the day as water/weather warms up. We get about 5.5l of 96% over about 12hrs.
More photo's to come.

Sorry the pics come out backward, but you can see the Srainless Steel one, it has not been used for about 15 years.

Re: Nifty's baby's
Your getting 96% with marbles in a 2" column cool. Iv always considered marbles but always use steel wool packing. At what rate do u collect 96%?
Re: Nifty's baby's
Marbles are a heavy structured packing option... I use marbles with a short column extension when running my small scale rig in hybrid mode... I can pull 160 proof from a majority of my runs from a 14% ABV All Bran wash in hybrid pot still mode and leaving my needle valve in place but all the way open which still allows a slight amount of reflux... Haven't run in this mode in a while but would like to again in the near future... Makes a nice faux wheat whiskey...
I've never run with the entire column filled with marbles due to the weight issue...
