Re: Tractors
No real tractors here. I have an old Deere 216 lawn tractor. Thinking hard about doing a full resto on it this winter. I just bought a Deere zero turn mower and am in love with it. Cut my mowing time by 60%.

Re: Tractors
I'm afraid mine might win runner up in an ugliest tractor contest.... its a yanmar (the they make all john Deere below 30 horse) she's ugly but always starts, good little machine. I really like Massey's though, I've owned a few, ran several others, damn good machines. Bet yer proud a that cab!!!

Re: Tractors
Being an old diesel tech I can tell you with plenty of evidence to back it up that Yanmar makes one of the toughest diesel engines alive today. If you go to a large construction site or chemical plant etc... and check all of the light plants and air compressors that run 24/7 and only shut down to change oil, 99% of them have Yanmar diesels in them.

I remember when my dad bought his Yanmar. I must have been 6 yrs old. Here we are 30 years later and that thing is still running like a champ!

Re: Tractors
I'm close to buying one myself. But a skid steer will be more useful for me I think. I wish I could afford a caterpillar but a bobcat will do just fine.

Re: Tractors
Well, she's not as flash as your Massey MM, but it does the job. Well at least it used to before my old man, bless his soul, lunched the clutch trying to plough un-ripped ground. He also used to like driving through blackberrys and gorse fur, hence the grill and headlight damage.
Its an old Fiat 411R. It has the dubious honor of not spending a night undercover since its been in our family. I'll get the clutch fixed soon, and give it a bit of a clean up. 24V starter was never much chop, but there is a 12 system available for them that I'm told is much better.

Re: Tractors
Dang now I have to find the camera and post a few.
Did ya want the big'uns or the little'uns?
Newer stuff or the older stuff?
Any horse power limitations?
I sold my Oliver 60 a few years back but I may have a picture of the old girl.

Re: Tractors
If I ever feel the urge there is a well worn and rusted 1958 International 300 Utility with a front end loader in my fathers pole barn... The hydraulic pump needs to be rebuilt because I won't pay $700 for one when I can source seals... Not at the top of my priority list right about now... I pulled the head and did a valve job on it about 35 years ago... That's about the last TLC it's had...

Re: Tractors
Not really much of a workhorse, it was more a jobbing tractor. It spent more time pulling things out of bogs, tipping over wrecked cars, dragging them around the paddock, and the odd bit of slashing.
When my old man thought he'd plough the ground with a 20 point offset plough in old grpound, he got about 20 meters done and it wouldn't pull.
No prizes for guessing why the clutch is stuffed.
He passed away about 7 years ago, I've had it sitting around since. The clutch can hold just enough to move itself, but no more. I have to split the engine and trans, and its a 2 stage wet clutch, so its a bit of a job. Going to cost some coin too.
And it has had water filled tyres that have rotted the valve stems (not stainless) so anothe 100 clams or so to fix the tyre.
On the up side, its got a few good options, diff lock, self leveling hydraulics, 3 stage PTO, and natural air conditioning- that is, you get conditioned to the air you're working in.
