Hi,
I'm new to the home distilling process and am unsure if i am able to make liquor's from my product out of the still. The shops sell the essences to flavor my alcohol e.g. Jack Daniels, but can i simply take the product, produced by my still and create a liquor e.g honey and banana? If so does anyone know some good fruit based liquors?
Many thanks,
Nick

Re: Liquor Basics
Essence can be used to flavor as you like however your own product can be aged and flavored howervereyou like as well just depends on what you want to make.
There are a ton of threads that can answer all your questions just do some searching and research. Tons of reading here will be your friend.

If someone suggests you do some research. Don't think of it as an insult, consider it a challenge.

Re: Liquor Basics
You never add essences to the still before distilling... They are blended into the final spirits... Most here don't use essences at all but, instead, make what they want to drink... If you want whiskey, make whiskey... If you want vokda, make vokda... If you want rum, make rum... Essences just give a little taste of the spirits they represent, but lack the overall body and mouth feel... In short, you can't make a silk purse out of a sows ear...
Plenty to be learned, by the sounds, and this is the best place to do your research... Start with the parent site, reading it at least three times... Then hit the New Distillers Reading Lounge... You won't find much here about essences...
