Testing Tubes
So I bought a plastic testing tube and when I poured my whisky in it, it cracked. I thought it was defective since the whiskey was at room temp. I ordered another one and I just poured my whisky which I distilled twice into it and it literally shattered. Again room temp, but 170 proof. Is there something about grain alcohol and plastic I didn't know about?

Yea. They don't mix. Go get a glass graduated cylinder.

Re: Testing Tubes
That is why we say don't use plastics. All the time. But yet some people want to argue about it.

Some folks have to learn the hard way rather than taking advice from others...
We have a Rule #8 for good reason...
Experience...

Re: Testing Tubes
Acrylic plastics craze into a jillion little cracks and distintegrate brittle in your hand from exposure to ethanol. Glass cylinders, stainless funnels etc are the only way to go.
In theory there's no difference between theory and practice. But in practice there is.

Thanks rad14701, but you seem to have overlooked rule #2. But thanks for the feed back anyway.

Had you done any amount of research before starting out we wouldn't be having this conversation so my method of delivery stands...bourbonbob1 wrote:Thanks rad14701, but you seem to have overlooked rule #2. But thanks for the feed back anyway.
