Hello from a former prosecutor
And future moonshiner. Actually, I come from a long line of Kentucky moonshiners, and I'm still in the South, so I'm merely continuing in the family business. Despite that and my love for bourbon, my real goal is to be able to produce the flavors of top shelf Scotch, especially Oban, Talisker, Laphroaig and some of the other spicy, peaty, briny ones.
I've been homebrewing for a while, but looking forward to getting started.

Welcome to HD mipuz,
Your in good company here. Them is some pretty lofty goals. Just don't give up on the bourbon, as there is no loftier goal than that.

How did ya deal with accused shiners when you was the prosecutor ? Remember , it is a matter of public record that we can dig up .

Re: Hello from a former prosecutor
Family business of moonshine ????? BUSINESS?????
I thought we here were hobby/ enthusiast distillers not BUSSINESS
A former prosecutor joining moonshine BUSINESS
I can't help thinking this a bait.
But then again maybe I have drunk to much

I worry about this a little also. However, I am waiting for the OP to reply back, and clarify his post a little more.meatheadinc wrote: I can't help thinking this a bait.

Re: Hello from a former prosecutor
Not sure what there is to clarify, but I'm happy to try.
I prosecuted bank robbers, arsonists, and plenty of other stuff, but I've certainly never seen anyone charged with moonshining. Not where I was practicing, at least. Never met a revenooer either.
Um, what else? "Family business" of moonshining wasn't a reference to an actual, registered, money-making enterprise, but rather to family lore and history. Sadly, perhaps, those days are long gone.
Anyway, I guess I (don't) know how to make an entrance.

Mipuz you are the perfect person to get this hobby legalized. That is your first order or business. Ok maybe your last order of business. OK welcome to the site. Lots of good book learnin here. Id start in the new distillers reading lounge. Lots of good readn there. Did I mention make it legal and read lots. Welcome!
Re: Hello from a former prosecutor
Perhaps you should have left out the part about being a former prosecutor when joining a forum supporting an illegal activity...mipuz wrote:Anyway, I guess I (don't) know how to make an entrance.

Re: Hello from a former prosecutor
Good evening.
As for the alleged entrance you did or didn't make, I think the jury's still out (although I hear they're a sympathetic bunch). In the mean time, we're gonna need you to place your left hand on a sack of corn, raise your right hand, and repeat after me -
I agree to still the shine, still the whole shine, and still nothing but the shine, so help you bourbon.

My concern was following in the family business which made it sound like you were planning to sell! Anyway glad to have you in the ranks.

You grew up in the biz but went on to be a prosecutor? Big leap for a lot here to wrap their heads around. I do appreciate your lofty goals. Gonna be hard when you take in environment. The 'briny' comes from a legitimate source.

I'm still contemplating this . Hard call , given the history of local politics in my state . Seems that the 'evil sinners' are always of the opposite party in my state and prosecutors are elected rather than appointed .

I think him and the other new member that's a lawyer who practices criminal defense.. in this thread. http://homedistiller.org/forum/viewtopi ... 16&t=42848
Should team up. And help with the legalization of our hobby. It would be good to have someone from both sides working together on it.

good Lord, cut the guy some slack.
If he was going to "out" you, he would not have told you he was a prosecutor
I wonder how many on here would violate their "profession" upon proclamation of this hobby. I am sure there are some cops on here, some priests, some lawyers, some booze store workers, some distillery workers - all who would be a perfect candidate to "rat" someone out.
OP - welcome to the hobby - be safe, enjoy ... and pay no heed to the Statler and Waldorfs in the balcony

Well, I used to be a federal law enforcement officer. Not in that capacity now. I could make some statements that would reflect my leniency to good ole boy's & gals but I don't talk about any of that to anybodyDoogie wrote:good Lord, cut the guy some slack.

Stainless, that post was kind of vague. Was that pointed toward me and the OP?
From what I can tell a windae is a window? Right?
as I tried to post Stainless posted again, I think this is a former beef that is unrelated.
