Hi from a newbi
I have just about a half hour or less of soldering left to do on the condenser portion of my 5 gal. clawhammer still. Its going all OK. I tested for leaks on the pot and found none. I am thinking ahead for my cleaning runs and read about doing these runs. It talks about diluted vinegar. So what ratio and how much would you suggest. At the same time I will check for vapor leaks.
I plan on a 2nd cleansing run using some cheap red wine. Would a couple gal. be sufficient?
How about an overnight presoak of the pot in the diluted vinegar/water?
Thanks Rctime

There is at least one topic in the New Distiller Reading Lounge dedicated to the cleaning of a new or modified still... You'll find a whole lot more good information there as well... We consider that entire forum as well as the entire parent site mandatory reading... Have at it...

Yes, read it from top to bottom, trying not to ask a question without doing some search on my own., all it says is diluted water vinegar, What does diluted mean? 50/50 25/75?
Maybe I missed something though, so will go back again for a reread.
Thanks for getting back to me so quick.

Rotfl. "What does diluted mean" sorry for laughing, but that was funny. I don't think it really matters . If it helps I normally do 75/25 . Like you said you will be doing a second "cleansing" (sacrificial run) with box wine . Also, search sacrificial run you should find your answer about how much boxes wine to use there . Good luck

Thanks Young_Blood for clearing that up for me, re-read that and it did bring a chuckle up.
