Dern Tater! What a loss! Kinda like seeing cull Vidalia onions being disgarded for the smallest of imperfections. I used to fill a truckload and give away every year.

I feel.your pain Tater,
I had.to feed 50 lbs cracked corn and 50 lbs.of malted red wheat to the neighborhood deer on Sunday. My house was flooded in June, and the restoration was just finished a week ago. For 9 months I have been out of commission with all the people coming and going. So I finally decided I could do some mashing but both containers of grain smelled sour. I didn't want to just take it to the dump, I figured the deer would not worry about some slightly sour grain so... It's all theirs now. I had the grain stored in sealed rubber made containers. I guess spending the weekend with 120 F water pouring on them must have allowed some moisture in.
I hope the deer at least enjoy the grain.
