Camco heating element question...
Hey there. I recently purchased a Camco 5500W 240V and was testing it out on my still using water. When I opened it up, there was a brownish line on the bottom of the kettle and the water was slightly muddy, there was a brown silt on the bottom. I removed the heating element and saw a fair amount of rust. Is this common? My first thought was, I don't want this in my wash. Any thoughts on this?

Re: Camco heating element question...
If I recall correctly, they do make a SS version that is impervious to rust... There is at least one topic on the subject kicking around here in the forums... Even has the part/model number posted...

As Rad said, they do make an all stainless one.

I personally like to go to the MFG for info about elements

http://www.statewaterheaters.com/produc ... ent-parts/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" rel="nofollow
I use sandhogs by State because they are SS and I got a bunch of them cheap.

Dang it! I didn't even bother searching or thinking that there might be a stainless option... Ugh... so obvious too! Thanks for the help (where is the "I should have checked, smacked upside the head emoji?)

They've picked up popularity over the last year. Prices have become reasonable as well.Burner61 wrote:Dang it! I didn't even bother searching or thinking that there might be a stainless option...
