We tend to shy away from glass components for safety reasons... Granted, they may work well and look neat in a laboratory but very few of us home distillers practice our craft in such a pristine environment...

Funny you post that, I was just checking out Labglass.com last week. Did you see their "church style distillers flask", the 1000ml unit only cost $65.00. Automatically started thinking about a reflux system I could drop into the neck of that thing.
thinking inside the box is for squares....

In addition to being fragile, it seems to me that most of the glass stuff isn't sized large enough for what we do. Might be OK for small batch experiments, and, they really do look cool. :D

I would like to run one just once, or see it, if not just to see the inner goings on. But yes, I have broken an alcometer, so my clumsiness would definately cause a problem.
