Hello All
I have never distilled, but have thought about it for years.
I have a home brewing setup... 3-15gal stainless kettles each with a 40kbtu burner.
Also have a 24 ft3 chest freezer on a temperature controller for precise fermentation temperature control.
I have a firm working knowledge of mashing and fermentation.
Recently started educating myself on distilling... bought 'Making Pure Corn Whiskey' and am mostly through a general read.
My initial goals for this hobby ... settle on a flexible design that will allow production of both pure spirits, whiskeys and brandys.
I looked into purchasing a built still, but I think I've decided on trying to build one myself. Hopefully I can find a way to interface with my existing kettles.
Starting Budget is @$300-350.00 US.
Just found the forum... Great Job Guys! Looking forward to cuising all the topics and learning from everyone's postings.
Don't plan to be posting much until I digest what I can from reading, but if anyone has some early advise or targeted links they think I should review please let me know!
Thanks Ahead Of Time!

Welcome aboard, PawleysPlayr...
Take advantage of the wealth of knowledge here in the forums as well as on the parent site... Ask questions along the way if things don't make sense, and it probably won't the first time through...
Good luck...

Re: Hello From SC
My 'early advice' is to not look for one still design that can do everything, but from the start plan to have both a pot still head and a reflux column (boka or vm). You can build them in a modular fashion so as to reuse some parts (boiler, condenser, etc). Anyway, with both of them in the tool box, there is pretty much nothing you won't be able to create
. Welcome along anyway.
