safe to drink
First I want to say what a huge help yall have been and thanks.
my question is this. I made a mash out of corn meal sugar water and yeast. frementataion went fine. I distilled it twice and removed a bunch af junk (using a copper pot still) I poured a little in on a plate an lit it and it burned blue with yellow tips why would it have yellow in it ? I threw away my first 200ml in both runs (5gal wash)and(2L strip run) is it ok to drink? any test I can run? should I dump it?

What type of still?
What percent ABV?
What section of your cuts?
More info provide better answers.

Yes I am talking about uncut Straight off the still and it burns blue with yellow/white beard the water I am using is out of a six stage r/o di water filter unit that was used to maintain a marine aquarium for years so it should be fine. the thing that gets me is it wasnt doing it before the 2nd run on the stripping run it burnned clear blue. would the increased abv have anything to do with it or maybe fusal oils from tails? should I run it back through again tho clean it back up with some store bought spring water? any thoughtsrad14701 wrote:Might even be something in your water... Id say ,,if you did not add anything,, you don't have a lead lined still. then most likely its safe,
just work on removing more tales, you mite be running a bit fast, hot, going a bit to far.
airing will not work, as these vaporize at higher temps. than ethanol.
but with a pot still don't expect to remove 100% of everything .this can become part of the flavor profile.
but freeze filtering ?charcoal mite mite help.
