You ever feel like a major dumbass?

Post by Kentucky shinner »

Ok I syphoned off about 12 gallon from a 30 gallon sweetfeed wash. filled up my boiler and fired that mother up... While she was heating up I decided to syphon off the rest of my wash in some plastic containers I have for keeping my wash until I am ready to run. Then start another batch.. Well I started the syphon IN MY GARAGE.. and went back out the check on my still.... about an hour later I went to the garage to get my hydrometer.... SON OF A $#$#$#&*(*)(&%$^#@$&% There was friggin 15 gallon of wash on my garage floor...
The morall to this story is .... Only do one thing at a time.... Damnit...

Exact same thing happened to me in the kitchen with a molasses wash. I lost about 2.5 gallons. Good thing the wife hadnt mopped yet, and it was cleaning day.

You can bet your last dollar I'd be mopping it back up so I could run it... No crying over spilled wash here, at least not if it could be saved...

Well I lost some nice malt wash all over the dirt floor, no saving any of this, I fermented 7# of malt extract and 5# sugar, And I was all excited about how it would come out, well it came out alright, that shit boiled up and came out the top of my still, I guess the best way to look at this sort of thing is that it makes for a good learning. Like now I know enough to boil that malt for a bit before the ferment.

Since this is off topic I would like to poll all of you about how your wife deals with this very interesting and productive hobby, As for my self, I have been married for bloody ever and it is a good marriage. She has her hobbies and I have a couple of my own, She knows better than to try to stop me, but that does not mean she is in the boat. I feel that I am lucky to have a wife that is not in my face about a little still or maybe some of my gardening pursuits. Come on guys, how many of us get yelled it for making a little heaven on earth?

Old lady cleans out the jars and filters the water. And drinks the whiskey. I love her.

ya sm my wife actually really good at smelling and making cuts. she helps me out quite a bit actually. I think it is in her blood.. Her grandfather was a moonshiner in the hills of tn. near Nashville. He always told a story about the revenoors being at there still one day when they heading back to it. He hauled ass through the woods back to the house and jumped in bed with all his clothes on and covered up. When they came knocking on the door the wife swore he was in bed sick and had been there the whole time. They came in and found him in bed. They then left. Needless to say he said he never went back to that still site.
I dont know why i told that story here but I did.

Was catching the warm water from the cold finger for my washing machine in a 5 gallon bucket. Im just sitting, reading on the net and then I realize that my socks are wet...WTF? Did the dog let loose in the kitchen?

Chaos ensues as I try to find a mop and towels before it heads downstairs into the tenants apartment.
I decided at that point it wasnt worth it to catch my water unless the bucket was in the sink.

Lost good husband point that day too...
