Aging Oak

Post by islandrunner »

This winter I got some white oak, saw it up , made 1/2 cubes and sticks 12 in. long, Its been air dryed all winter by the heating ducks in the house, Should I put it outside now for the summer and let it get rained on and dry out by the sun now.I charred a stick and put in a jug. It made me sick for 5 days and the 1st. 2 days peed red.Its oak wood for sure,Thanks

Did you go see a doctor?

Where did you get the wood?

It was those damned "ducks"... :P I'm sure you meant "ducts"...

But . . . Red Oak can be poisonous especially if you are sensitive to it... Or the reaction might be coincidental... I'd dump those spirits just to be on the safe side...

Even if you feel alright now I would still have your doctor run some tests if you have health coverage... You'll rest better by knowing rather than wondering, trust me...

Took a limb off a white oak that the loggers took, It was about 6 in. round and cut off the sap wood and made sticks out of it,Dried it out were it would snap into, charred on gas stove and age it in a jug, I done it with 1/2 gallon. Nothing left to dump out. I drink a pint that night with coke zero. Been to doctor for a phy. 3 months ago and go back for check up next week, blood work again in the morning, Doc. said make sure its good stuff.been kind of scared to take a drink since but using Canadian mist to keep going.
