name this heating element kit bought online

Post by kopek_beyaz »

I bought this kit a number of years ago on-line, from someone that was a user here. There are a black and white wire on one side, and two green wires on the other side. The green wires were included because the seller of the kit ran out of other colors...
The green wires have terminal lugs.
It has been collecting dust for years, and I cannot find the manual. My question, which side goes to the heating element, which side to the supply?
I mounted it in an emptied computer power supply case and left the fan in to keep it cool.

hopefully the image works

That appears to be an early Pintoshine controller to me... To be honest it really doesn't matter which wire goes to the element and which to the mains, but in schematics the MT2 terminal of the triac goes to the load (element)... That should be the center terminal of the triac... MT1 would be the power in...

I would agree with rad, although i am sure he knows much more about it than me. I built the pintoshine controller and mine looks very similar to that.

shit if i had to hazard a guess I would say that black and white go to the element and green go to the source. AC is not pole specific really, like in the wall you just have two colors and three wires, the hots (L1, and L2) and neutral. now on the DC side you have polarity, and two colors.
