suggestions on first reflux build?

Post by jsajarmy »

I have a 8 gallon pot still i usualy run but i just bought a 26 gallon milehi boiler and im wanting to build a reflux tower for it. it will be the first reflux column ive built and ive been reading to see which one would be the simplest to build and run and so far it seems to lead to the bokakob design. What did/would yall start with?

the boka is not only easy to build but easy to run can't go wrong with it.

Duplicate topic removed...

Started with a pot still and have used an assortment of pot stills and reflux columns... A Bokakob dual slant plate column is a good started build if you want neutral spirits...

@ jsajarmy,

If you are considering a Bokakob design I would suggest considering a Liquid Management (LM) / Vapor Management (VM) combination Still. Suggest reviewing the thread titled “Some Still Drawings” located in the “Research and Theory” sub-forum. With a 26-gallon boiler suggest considering a 3-inch diameter column. The referenced “Some Still Drawings” thread has Bokakob LM/VM still diagram drawings.

yeah i think ill go with the 3'' boka. would it be a big difference from 2''? my boiler has the 2'' domed lid flange ill just have to order a 2'' to 3'' reducer.
