Ok Troll or Darwin Award potential?

If you truly need to ask that question, please shutdown now. For your safety, you have MUCH more research to do before you continue.

Let me guess. You have a store bought still that they told you just to throw out the first 50lm? And nothing else? Yes research on cuts is in order for you. The new distiller reading lounged is a good place to start.

Good luck be safe take your time.

Ok guys thanks for leading me in the right direction because i now know a bit about making cuts from reading a few documents.

*Should i discard the whole batch i did without making cuts :econfused: because now with the Foreshots,Heads and tails still in the batch i dont think its will be consumable :?: or will be it ok.

Dilute it to 40% or below and rerun it.

Pp's suggestion is the least you can do. Discarding the first 50ml cannot be 'forgotten'. The first quarter of the whole output is suspect; don't try drinkin the first quarter until you have determined whether it's the first quarter or the first third that is no good to drink. The 'cuts' are the final measurement.

Some stills are either too small or too fast to do any more than discard the first 50ml instead of making cuts, because no other cuts are possible. These stills are for wasting money and they end up as a deterrent from doing it at home.

""If you mess up the cuts or blending, for whatever reason, you can ,just throw it all back into the still except for the foreshots, then add some water to dilute it a bit (or the backset from the run), and run it all over again. It is a good learning experience.""

What about the foreshots :?: because all its mixed together.
Should i be leaving the used wash inside the still when i have to run it all over agian or clean it and just use what was produced. :?:

It will be ok to run it all again and do proper cuts.Just add water to product to make wash around 40 proof for safety and rerun.

John,

I know all this Help from the mentors and experienced can come off a little hars and be daunting so from one Novice to another please let me express the importance of research before you continue any further. I myself spent about 6 months doing nothing but reading at work and home, i learned more from just skimming through as much material as i could then just diving in and having to ask for help when you reach a road block. many mentors will be there to help but often your going to be just directed to more reading. i myself made many and still am making many mistakes but i feel far more confident just knowing what i know...

my advice if you take it,is to stop now read read read, then go back that stuff you produced aint going anywhere because you cant drink it the way it is anyway.

hope you get there.

As mentioned, the entire amount collected can be rerun... But set it aside until you have done enough research to really know what you are attempting to do because the overall process is not as simple as most initially believe... The alcohols you are distilling is all poisonous, some more than others, in ample quantities, even ethanol... Give it the respect it deserves and pay attention to detail like your life depends on it... You've found the largest repository of hobby scale distillation information available anywhere so take full advantage of it before proceeding...

Good luck and, above all, stay safe...
