Post by shiner153 »

I curently am using a aluminum stockpot as my pot and have been having problems soldering the condenser to it. Turns out you cant solder aluminum. I wish i would of known that before i bought the pot. My question is do you think that jb weld work? Any help would be much appreciated.

You are going to need to use a bulkhead fitting and gasket. PTFE gasket.

Shiner, why did you continue and pretty much post the exact same thing, a second time. You were given advise, on soldering to that AL boiler, and also exactly WHAT to do with that AL boiler.

I don't quite understand why you are asking questions, if you are going to simply ignore the answers you have been given, only to ask the same question, just in a slight different way.

@ shiner153,

Soldering aluminum is difficult to do and requires special fluxes but aluminum can be soldered. Suggest performing a Google Search on the topic “Is it possible to solder aluminum?” will reveal pertinent information on the topic. Forum Member ozone39 in his Sat Feb 25, 2012 2:18 pm posting in your “Soldering Problem” posting provided information on how to solder your cooper pipe to the aluminum pot.

The above being said attempting to solder aluminum and using aluminum components in a home hobby Still is undesirable. Stainless Steel and Copper are the preferred materials for a Still boiler.

Hey Shiner, Husker is in the top three here as far as quality, spot on advice. Before you go poopin in your nest, I'd reconsider your rude answer to one of the most helpful posters on this site.

Or not, maybe you don't need any help.. good luck!

This is not America. This is the Internet. You are a member of this forum as a guest and you are In direct violation of rule #2 of this forum: "Be polite and courteous"

If it wasn't for Husker, it is likely we would all be in a very different place right now. Mind your manners please.

I think this statement pretty much sums it up... Now that you are aware of the error of your ways, no more double posting or out and out doubting the advice given... If bad or conflicting information is given it will be addressed in the original topic, perhaps with links to supporting information, in an effort to eliminate fragmentation caused by needless double posting like this...
