Micro Distillery to visit

Post by Expat »

I'm on vacation at the moment, touring the west coast of North America and I happened to come across a micro distillery near where we are staying.

Unfortunately it was closed for the day, but it opens at 11 so i'm psyched to go for a visit. Snapped the below pic in their storefront, however they have a massive flute in back which I think is their production hardware. Additional pics to follow :)

Where are you? If you are in Portland, Oregon, we have several craft distilleries all in the same inner SE part of town. You could see 5 or 6 in one day!!

"passing through"!?! You trying to hurt my feelings??? What does your wife like? Maybe I can help with a compromise? How about 5 craft tours for one International Rose Test Garden and one Japanese Garden, both within walking distance of each of eah other?
I also know where all the kinky strip clubs are as well as the biggest book store on earth!!!

Nice to see that I'm not the only person who displays their still in the front window... :silent:

Enjoy the vacation... You must not be retired because working folk hate it when retired folk call traveling in their seemingly endless free time a vacation... And then there are the ones who actually come home to rest and call it a vacation... :problem: But I digress... :lolno:

That looks older than Pernod Fils. Can't wait to see the rest of it.

If your going from Kelowna over to the coast and down I-5 you'll be going right past my place. Portland has a great distilleries row that is worth a day but I would suggest you have a designated driver!

Frostee, my wifes cousin is retired but was a contractor and did a lot of renovation work at the strip clubs and xxx movie houses in Portland (and there are a few). I always thought his remodels took longer than they should have to complete.

Sorry for the delayed response guys, no access to internet while I was on the road.

Not to worry Frostee I meant passing through in the sense that we're on a driving vacation, we'll be doing stops here and there so hopefully i'll be able to convince the misses and get myself a tour or two :D The Japanese garden might be a good compromise 8) though... the strip club would be fun also

Thanks Rad, We're definitely enjoying the trip thus far, definitely only a vacation as work will want me back at the end of the three weeks :( For me retirement is at least 35 years away as i'm only in my early thirties

Bushman, That's excellent! Any recommendation for the best to visit? Likely i'll get 1 to choose without putting the wife really out of sorts.

So I did get in to see the distillery yesterday and it was quite an interesting visit. Alas, I missed the master brewer which is a shame, the only upside to that is that i'd likely have said too much  I picked up a bottle of their craft Gin and wow is it fabulous.

I'm just sorting through all the copper porn pics and i'll start posting them up after this :-)

Thanks Expatlad, I had to wipe off the drool from my keyboard several times. What make is it, size of boiler and any guess on the diameter of the coolumn, bubble or plates?

Indeed  You can imagine my reaction in person (... Please Sir, don't try to take the equipment lol)

Unfortunately with the master being out I didn't get all the questions answered as I wanted, including the maker.
However some that I did get answered, The right hand side is a plated column with return valves, 16" inch diameter, the boiler is 300 gallons + vapor space.

A batch of pair brandy was warming up when I watching.
