A toast to Mom

Post by woodshed »

Three years ago on March 21 I lost my father to cancer. Within the last 2 hours I learned of the unexpected passing of my Mom.

She has always been a rock of support and though she was concerned about my wife and I spending a good deal of our retirement savings on opening the distillery she was very proud when I handed her our first bottle and went on and on about how great it was that I had brought dad's dream of 'likker for the masses' to fruition.

I type this as my wife is arranging our travel plans as we were leaving on a short vacation tomorrow where we would hook up with some of the people I have met on this site.
I guess I am mentioning this because of the strong sense of community and brother/sisterhood I feel here.

A raised glass in her honor.

My sincere condolences woodshed to you and the rest of your family.

May you find some solace in the fact that she got to see your dream take flight, and sample the fine result.

I don't drink this early, but one for Moms is always appropriate.

You must be very proud of your parents. My sincere condolences... I will be looking around for your label.

I was just talking to Windy and got the news woodshed. i am so very sorry for your loss, i am lucky enough to still have my parents around, but definitely know how it feels to lose someone close unexpectedly, and nothing can prepare you for it. It is wonderful that your Mom got to experience you making your Fathers dream a reality, and i can only imagine the pride she felt. My deepest condolences, if you need anything, even just to talk or vent just let me know. We definitely still need to have a get together at some point, but take care of your business, family always comes first. One thing i love about some other cultures that us Americans don't quite seem to embrace is when someone passes, you should celebrate their life and remember all the good times had instead of just mourning and being sad. I know that's definitely what i want when my time comes. My glass is raised buddy, may your Mother take her share

Lost my mother a little over a year ago and my father in 1982. As time passes it's amazing how you can be driving down the road and for no reason a memory of them pops into your head. They may be gone but never forgotten. My thoughts and prayers are with you!

Deepest condolances to you and your family. You were extremely lucky to be able to share your dream with her while here on earth and now she does collect that angels share while she watches down on you. I am sure that she is a proud lady.

I am truly sorry for your loss. Here's to your mom, and to your dad ... may the server where they are now, serve them both with flavor you and they have cherished, and developed.

Woodshed your loss impacts us all, if only to take a moment and reflect upon our own lives, the people we have lost as well as those we haven't. Our lives are what we make of them with the conditions we are given. Some choose to make the most and some to simply exist. If she took after what We know of you here, I'd bet she lived and loved all that she could. As with your father, hours will turn to days, days to weeks, weeks to months and months to years. Then in the flash of an eye, it is real once more in the moment we find ourselves in, if only for a second. But in that second all of everything she ever meant will be felt once again to remind us that we may be gone but never forgotten. May those seconds be numerous in the years to come my friend. To your mother and all those gone, for the ones that remain, and dad's for being Dad, tonight I toast a Flint River Water neat in their, and your honor. May peace find you soon enough to anticipate the seconds with hopeful expectations.
