Myles, As always, a great answer. I built some of the "pintoshine" style injectors for mashing all grain that people have been really happy with, was wondering how much more could be done with them....Kinda like tater's avitar type of thing. But because I wonder about it doesn't mean its p...

Re: steam boiling
This is something I am interested in. Inject steam into a mash tun for temperature, ferment on the grain, distill on grain, again, via steam injection. Has this project progressed? Or are there other members who can chime in? There seems to be valid and legit interest in this. Can a mod perhaps combi...

I know I am a bit late to the party, as usual, but I have great results by putting the items in a big piece of round ductwork or flue pipe. It keeps heat in and reflects it back at the piece you are working on. Its a cheap blast cabinet Kinda.

The single bubble cap has been done elsewhere with good results, I think OD did one as well...bieng a bubble cap you will need either weir walls or a liquid tight seal to the walls of the column. Not a big issue but a detail that needs to be addressed. Somewhere I have a drawing of a cap with an int...

Re: Nuclear Whiskey / Nuclear Rum and Spirits Rapid Ageing
in my limited experience with the nuke treatment, it is very similar to making hot brewed tea. you quickly get color and taste components from the oak, but no fundamental change in the spirit itself, like time will do. imo you are adding only an oak flavor to the spirit, which is a good thing and m...

I hear that, i think if it was just a jar ofclear water, it would end up a warm jar of clear water. I love me some sun tea, but without the tea, its just warm water.ErnieV wrote:It looks to me like that's nothing to do with the sun that has changed the colour, but the tea bags, wouldn't you think?

I was pretty nervous about the "boil" as well. But if you look closley, I think you'll see the it is actually bubbles (air?) Comming out of the wood. It was in my case anyway. This is confirmed to work great with dwwg.

Shout,
You are right on. By refluxing the column, I believe that the fores and a lot of the heads get compressed at the top of the column. As you take off product, the hearts seem to expand, if you will. This makes for long, beautiful heart cuts.

I guess the trick is to not use your plated coumn to go around whacking things. If you want to whack something, use a boka.
