new 2" cm family member
Hey all, built a little.cm to play with, don't have any experience with coil type condensers so.thought it was about time to step up.and learn. 800mm column, 250mm pc. Coil/coldfinger for each condenser. Just did first sac run, surprised at how.well the coils work!. Very responsive and knocks down well!. The coolent lines.are just temporary till I figure out what I want. output was around 72% without packing running pretty quick. Will do a run later with packing and a fresh wash.

Just did a small run with 9% veg wash, packed with lava, got constant 94% @ 1.3 lph, slow! But happy for the first run!. Need to upgrade the PC condenser, had some.vapor now.and then.

That shiny piece reminds me of my build working with Mash Rookie, as an artist he would not let me settle for function alone I would shine it up and he would say you haven't spent enough time on the buffer. I have to admit my still when first finished was a beauty as is yours. Fine detail work shows me that you are committed to excellence which probably shows through on your product as well.

Re: new 2" cm family member
Hi apr, I've used that bunnings stuff, it's ok but not very porous!. I get mine from the local landscape supply joint, usually called scoria. Comes in 5kg bags of different sizes. I use the 25mm ones, there really porous. The black ones seem best compared to the red.

Re: new 2" cm family member
Thanks Googe, I wasn't sure whether the product from Bunnings was suitable for the still or not. I will have to check out my local landscape supply places now and see what they carry.googe wrote:Hi apr, I've used that bunnings stuff, it's ok but not very porous!. Re: new 2" cm family member
Somo, if i'm understanding you right, I didn't use any pipe above the rc, the coil inlet/outlet pipes are soldered into the column and 90 degree bend joint, just cut some slots in both joints and the pipe sits in there. The rc hangs down in the column from there. Make sense?, is that what you were asking?.

Re: new 2" cm family member
Yeah Googe sort of it looks like it's maybe 4" to the highest point in the 90* above the inlet outlet. I'm working on a little something and was curious of how much vertical height one can have over the RC.
I've read this ten times and just realized what you were saying. Hard headed I am some times.
