Agreed, Ayay... We have more collective experience here than that of any number of brew shop staffs could collectively possess... They are in the business of selling whereas we are in the act of doing... Whose advice should folks trust...???

Its not a "hate" for it its more of a unnecessary expense, but my biggest complaint is you do not learn much about fermenting from using it.
something like using self rising flour(1cup flour/1 1/2 tab. baking powder/1 /2 tea.salt)then double the price and if you want the convenience, you could premix your own. it whould be somthing like 1 lb of yeast, 1 lb brewers yeast, a bit of DAP. and maybe a zink tab. you whould have about 2 lbs for the price of 2 packs of turbos.

It's kinda odd how members are having better results and faster ferment times with the Gerber and All Bran recipes than they were having with Turbo Yeast... Why...??? Because the cereal has a all of the right vitamins and minerals in ample yet conservative proportions and the amount of cereal can be adjusted up or down in relation to the amount of yeast pitched... Both recipes are intended to be "turbo killers" for that very reason... And the other neutral recipes also come out cleaner and require less overall effort even though they may not ferment as fast...

Rad,
Points well taken.
I should have added that I used up those 12 packs of TurboPure and didn't have a real issues as explained earlier.
Since then I have tried the Gerber cereal 8 times (loved the smell of the ferment)
But now I'm stuck on Wineos Plain Ol Wash. I have 3 buckets (6 gallons) always going in one stage or another.
I certainly appreciate this forum and have learned a great from those who are obviously passionate about this craft.
Thanks

Doc

making high gravity wash produces , more congers (more of the stuff we do not want as acetone,methanol,fusels,etc.. we group these together as heads/tales, the more you produce in the wash/mesh the more you have to "try"to remove, you can remove most but not all as some are carried over no matter what you do,short of running threw a reflux several times.
now if you produce a "clean" wash/mash you do not have to try to remove as many, basically if you produce a wash/mash
that you whould not mined drinking, there is not much to remove or carry over. another way of putting it is bad in, bad out..
