Noob from Sydney, Australia

Post by Scotty72 »

Have been lurking around for a few weeks; thought it was about time I said hi.

Hi!

Already, the bits and pieces I've picked up from here have improved my product enormously - thanks guys. I've finally gotten to the stage where my mates (the few who I let know) actually prefer my product when I do my version of the Pepsi challenge (blind taste test Vs a brand name).

ATM I'm using a t500 - now I'm trying to decide whether I should attempt to build my own boka or try to pay someone to do it for me. A learning experience Vs convenience / trusting expert workmanship. :)

Thanks all - ESP those who own / run / contribute to a great site

Welcome aboard.

You already have a still. So I would say at least try to build it. You will get more enjoyment out of it in the end. Being able to say I built the still that me this.

Yeah! I'm leaning that way... The satisfaction of tinkering and, hopefully, getting it right. As you say, I've got the t500 in the meantime, even if it takes me many months to get the build right. :)

It's been many, many moons since I've grabbed the tools and built anything meaningful - but I guess the first step is the hardest. :)

Greetings, Scotty72...

If at all possible, build a still from scratch... There is nothing more satisfying than drinking spirits from a still you've constructed with your own hands...

Good luck...

diddo on the build, welcome to the forum. By building your own you have studied the theory behind it's operation which gives you a bit more feel on how to handle it (my opinion)! :D
