Hey guys ,
so i am looking at purchasing a hs5500 phase controller from hillbillystills
and there is not much info on running at different volts
i will be running it on 100V power supply @ 50Hz and am wondering how this will work ,and what output i should expect from the unit
I have a 12gl sanke boiler and am in no rush for a fast boil time
at the moment i am running a CM still but will eventually want to build a simple 3" pot still
I have also recently purchased a voltage convertor 3000w which i can run if need be to bring the 100V to 220V but i am not to sure how that will work
My electrical knowledge leaves much to be desired hence the interest in this unit instead of tackling the build myself
any help would be much appreciated

Re: hs5500 information phase controller
@ cooperville,
Explain why you going to use a ‘100V power supply @ 50Hz’ to power a Hillbilly HS5500 controller?
What type of electric service power (120v or 220v) and Amperage service are available to you? Amperage service is just as important as voltage service. What wire gauge (14, 12, 10) are you anticipating on using?
Regards,
Coaster

I would suggest you contact Mule Kicker (pm him) he is the resident expert in this area. I plan to purchase his set-up once I get home tomorrow from the mountain!

Re: hs5500 information phase controller
Gday fellas
well my country location is japan and they have got a funny power supply
Japan
A, B socket type
100 V
50 Hz east
and
60 Hz west
East Japan 50 Hz (Tokyo, Kawasaki, Sapporo, Yokohama, and Sendai); West Japan 60 Hz (Okinawa, Osaka, Kyoto, Kobe, Nagoya, Hiroshima). Older buildings have nonpolarized sockets, in which case American polarized plugs (one prong wider than the other) would not fit. Many buildings do not have the ground pin. Sockets and switches fit in American-sized standard boxes.
i am living in east japan
now as i am at work at the moment i cant just check my fuse box and in fact havent even moved into the house yet but it looks around 20A to 40Amps just depending on the size of house which our house is going to be of a bigger size !
i have spoken with mulekicker about this and he suggested i buy his phase controller which is awsome but i have already purchased the hill billy stills hs5500 which i am kicking myself at right now because of the price difference
I havent had any further info about how this if any one could help this would be much appreciated
i hope i havent just blown my hard earned cash on something i cant use in this funny country!!!!

Re: hs5500 information phase controller
cooperville, while I'm not familiar with the electric in your country, 40A sounds a bit high to have coming out of a 100V wall socket... It would take some hefty wire to handle such a load... I'm going to do some research to see what I can come up with...
