Great site! I thank all the mods and everyone on it. I got a suggestion that is on another forum that I use that I really like. It gives you the option to like someone's post not just quote it. So if someone said something very well instead of cluttering the threat with a bunch of "what he said" Members can just like the post to show that they support what another member said.

Just a thought. Keep up the great work.

Thats a good idea. Then if we could search on 'most liked' posts, it would be a great way to read lots of the best wisdom here fast.

Tater, can this be done?

Jimbo, now that you have the tools you could do it like this:

It would be nice for the board to show who a member is responding to rather than having a thread drag on with responses getting misunderstood or having to use quotes to draw attention to that member..

Tater or any moderators. If you would like to see an example of this please send me a PM and I will direct you to a site I frequent that employs what I'm trying to convey to you.

It's the easiest site to navigate that I have come across.

first thanks to all the work being done by everyone. i agree with the like a post option and to take it one step further how about an ignore option as well. im sure im not the only one that has areas that i would rather not see the discussion on I.E glass stills, continuous etc... if i could use an ignore button on it i wouldnt have to mark topic read every time someone makes a comment to it as im going through and checking unread responses to topics

Holmes, there's an 'unsubscribe' button on the very bottom left if youre tired of a topic.

I would suggest that "likes" don't count as a post for ranking purposes.

If they do everyone will be a master distiller in 3 days

Couldn't help myself. LOL

If a rating system was put into place. At this point in time. There would ne a lot of old posts. That are very good. That wouldn't get the exposure they should. Because they haven't been rated. So it would take some time for the old good posts to catch up. To newer posts that may be less stellar then the old ones. We as a group would have to actively go though old posts and give them the credit they deserve.

+1000 :lolno:

Yes, there is at least one Like Mod for phpBB... Husker or Uncle Jesse would need to install and test it... If I wasn't swamped with real life work at the moment I'd be inclined to attempt the install on my phpBB install...

As an aside, it's nice to see that there is a greater number of Moderators now so more organizational work can actually be done...

"Click the thanks button if I helped you" comes to mind.

The exceptionally helpful people (you know who you are) could have an unofficial record of how many folks they have helped along the way. I think its called a thanks meter over @ XDA developers. It seems like a creative way to recognize the folks that work so hard to help strangers, and I feel that there many members here that deserve recognition.

personally I think the whole like thing is a crappy idea. Sorry but I couldn't care less who has more likes or if what I post is even liked at all. I don't even like the post count on everyones name, that just shows who spends waaaay too much time on the puter. Also pushes folks to post on threads that have already been answered, several times. How many times have you seen a simple question go 3 or 4 pages??

This, by the way, is coming from someone who spends waaaay too much time on the puter

That's an excellent point BB. Every change is going to have wanted, and unwanted consequences.

HD is not Facebook, and I'm sure everyone wants to keep it that way.

I'd like to see more focus on making this place more user friendly, segregating topics into areas/Tittles where everyone can just look at the index page and find exactly what they want straight up. I see alot of people not knowing where to post certain things, and that.makes twice as much work for people wanting to find things and.managment to put it in the right place.

I noticed view counts on a thread are not unique. If I click on a thread 10 times it gets 10 added views, which seems odd to me.

yes like buttons are more about ego's and brownie points than adding anything for the betterment of the forum, if somebody writes +1 on a post it really doesn't add thousands of hrs to the reading time  . As far as threads that you do not wish to read or contribute to well most thread titles Convey something of what the thread is likely to be about. So my suggestion would be don't read stuff you don't want to, cant see how or why change the forum to make that decision for you. Prefer freedom of choice myself :wtf:
