Around 1hr but could be faster. It's just like smoking meat. Low and slow.

My heat up time is about the same on a 3 gal pot with 2.5 gal charge. So im wondering why-how you getting the sme numbers as myself. Dos the HF controller make that uch of a diff.

I'm not sure. I'm not a engineer lol but I know what works for me .

I know I'm a little late on this but are you saying you didn't have to do any rewiring to the hot plate? You just plugged the router speed controller to the hot plate then tooligged that to the wall?

Something sounds odd about CrazyPapa's statement... We aren't trying to control "temperature"... We want to control power input/current flow... If the simmerstat on the hot plate isn't bypassed it will still cycle on and off...

Yes, most hot plates can be modified so that the internal control circuit is bypassed with power leads going directly to the heating element... There is at least one topic in these forums with illustrations on how to do this, and maybe more than one...
