Film Screening: Thunder Road and Moonrunners in New York

Post by screenslate »

Hello,

This is Jon, and I am arranging a screening at a 27-seat underground movie theater in Brooklyn, New York. I'm showing two moonshine running classics: Thunder Road and Moonrunners. Naturally, I would like to make special concessions available to the audience. I wondered if anyone on the forum would be interested in lending their talents to the cause? The screening is August 31 and I am expecting about 60 guests between the two films. I'm able to travel outside of the city and reimburse.

Thanks for hearing me out—and if anyone is in the area and would be interested in coming out to speak about distilling, or just hanging out to enjoy the movies, I'd be happy to have you!

Best,
Jon

Greetings, screenslate...

I wouldn't be overly optimistic in getting a response to your offer... Most members here are very wary of new arrivals, and rightly so... Considering how this hobby is still considered illegal here in the US, as well as most of the civilized world, folks don't generally let their interest be known to any but a few of their closest friends and family members...

I, for one, would never walk into a room full of strangers in an equally strange town and convey my knowledge of distillation... Heck, if I was to do that I might as well take along samples to assure that there is more than enough evidence to convict me... And while I was at it I might as well bring a working still for a demonstration... Doesn't sound too smart when the idea is presented that way, does it...

As I recall, there is at least one "legal" micro-distillery in the NYC area that you would be better off contacting...

Good luck...

LWTCS yes sir.

Rad I name my personal files on the computer br549. Most people don't know what it is and in a list of folders its easy to skip over. And yes I have used it as a password a time or two.

It use to be a running joke when I talked on the radio all the time. Noobs would come on askin how to get more power out of their radio. We would tell them clip jumper 13 and adjust BR549. They always come back on and say I can't find em. We tell them its junk through it away.

Never watched Hee Haw BD?
Much of Hee Haw's origin was Canadian. Two of the series' three creators, comedy writers Frank Peppiatt and John Aylesworth, were from Canada. Bernie Brillstein, the third, was from New York. From 1969 until the late 1980s, Hee Haw was produced by Yongestreet Productions, named after Yonge Street, a major thoroughfare in Toronto.

Yup, watched it but can't remember much of it. Thanks for clarifying. Know Yonge street quite well. Bought my first blue suede platform boots there

Haha, thanks Prairepiss. I get it now.

Ed - did I say blue? I meant to say purple suede boots, even worse!
