No juice June.

Post by emptyglass »

My mate keep making hints and inuendo that I drink too much.

Not bad for the hippocrit that he is.

He reckons I drink because I make the stuff for next to nothing, I say he pays too much for the bottle of store bought crap he buys each week, but gets a free hangover.

So then he pipes off at the trap, saying he is doing "no juice June". A phrase of his own invention. Temps me to join. Then tells me its his birthday on a saturday, its also the winter solstice (bloody hippy), and one grand prix (bloody revhead), so those days don't count. I still can't work out how he's a hippy and a gas head in the one breath. Oh yeah, his house is built of straw bales, and he has a 1929 Chev in the shed.
But he needs to a hand to hold while he backs off the piss.

Anyways, I have agreed to do "no juice June", with the caviot that Saturdays don't count. And I also said just because I'm not drinking, dosn't mean I cant make the stuff.

The bet is (at this point), if he dosn't make it, he has to get his hair cut. Bloody dreadlocked hippy, it will hurt him to do this.
If I dont make it, he gets to give me a Brazillian wax (trying the bluff). It will hurt me to do this, but I reckon if my Mrs is there, he'll chicken out. But I'll know if he's had a haircut.

But anyway, if there is anyone else that feels the need to health up a bit (good lord knows I do), sign up for "no juice June", with Saturdays exepted.

Oh yeah. If you don't drink on a nominated day, you get a wild card, that can be redemeed when you want. But you have to nominate your conditions.

I think the damage to my health would not outweigh the damage I might cause to those around me. Good luck though. ;)

I would take the challenge. But I have an advantage. I usually only drink on Saturday anyway. So I wouldn't be changing anything.

Sounds like a win-win, no way I could give another man a Brazillian wax job. I'm guessing your going to be watching him cry over a handful of dreds or cry over a bowl of body wax. Eitherway, congrats on your win!

Pretty much.

But so was he.

I'm looking at this as a "vacation for my liver". Nahh, I've just taken advantage of my barrel too much, too often. An I'm taking a video of those dreadlocks of his hitting the floor, while he pays $35 in a posh salon to get it done.
He won't be dripping wax on my nuts.

Buddy had to clear out all stock before he could make the bet. I still got 15 litres uj in a barrel, few litres of scotch, some SPD, 200+ litres 10% wash waiting to be run, half a sack of sugar, 250gm active yeast in the freezer....this wont be going on in July. There is also a few bottles of plum brandy (slivovitz) in the store.

Yeah, look, posting a thread like this here, is like pulling up to a Harley convention on a Suzuki. Or one of those chinese offerings.
Or asking for a salad at Mc Donalds.

But I think I need to straighten up a bit for the next round of still mods :lolno: Its not a skill thing, more a motivation thing.

And I've been off the cigarettes for a month now. I caugh up with my brother in law today after his South Ametican trip. He flicks me a pack with 3 cuban cigars in it.

Thank fu-k its saturday.

Ok, some rules developed last night. He was here Friday night, he left around 11.45pm. I said "if stay up for 15 min's, I can have a drink."

We agreed that after midinght is still the same day. Small point, but could be a big deal at pay up time. So friday after midnight is still friday, not saturday. But what is technicly sunday, that is, after midnight saturday, is still staturday.

If anyone needs clarification, please lodge request here...

Well, in my original bet, I did put in a disclamer that its still ok to make stuff. To me this includes the necassary tasting required to do the job properly.
But at the same time, there is no point going for a health walk, and taking the short cut home, so for me, I'm going to try and be honest with myself.

That said, its up to you what rule you want to make.

I gotta admit, I've saved more cash getting off the fags than I've saved not stopping at the bottle shop, since I didn't stop there anyway. But it has been nice not getting up for a piss in the night.

And to everyone else, enjoy a drink for us!

I did alright the first few days, I think my system had a few days spare in storage.
I reckon there was half a bottle of UJ stashed in belly fat.

But yes Rock, I could have easily checked the valve on the barrel for fear that it may have seized.

Feeling better though. Sleeping well, crapping better, getting heaps of stuff done.

I'fn your not drinking, and not on too many meds then St Johns wort has been implicated in helping to eliminate alcohol craveings in recovering alcoholics.
I drink "be happy" herb tea with it in at school each day - it is a mild anti-depressent. I normaly stop on thursday or friday each week so i can drink safely in the weekend if i want to (its not good to combine the two).
It certainly stops me craving booze - could be useful :)

Nahh man, do what you like saturdays. Blend, sample, blend some more, sample some more. Guzzel once right blend achieved.

You gotta make your own rules. Like, "I, astronomical, hereby swear to take part in no-juice-june, but I will be blending on wednesday evenings. I will drink on saturdays".
And if you blend some other day, change it to that. Or want or dont want something, add or subtract as required. But, like all good bets, state the conditions of the bet. You could even make a bet with the Mrs.

You should get on board soon, as there is only 3 weeks left. I guarantee, anything you save this month will be better next month. Remember, this is not a permanant fixture, this all ends on Friday 29 June (30th is a Saturday, how 'bout that?) and I get to see my mates dreadlocks cut off
