Prison Distilling
I was talking with a friend who works in a prison here in the UK this week and he was telling me about the stills they are finding there now... Not sure of the exact details but the basic outline is this: Kitchen workers steel suitable pots from the kitchen like a metal servery tray or cooking pot. Two wires with razor blades attached are then connected to the mains and dropped into the liquid in the pot. A binbag is taped on top around the rim. The liquid is heated by the razor elements and as the vapour rises the bag baloons. Once far enough away from the heat it starts to turn to liquid again and runs down the outside of the bag where it collects in the overhang of the bag over the rim caused by the weight of the liquid (think of a mushroom). When enough liquid has collected in the bag they poke a hole in it and collect it in a container. They then stick the container in a freezer in the kitchens and return when the water has frozen but the alcohol is still liquid. They break away the ice... et voila!

Re: Prison Distilling
I'm not planning on spending any time in prison so I'm not at all concerned with how creative prisoners are with their ghetto prison stills...
Obviously, they don't care about their own health and safety...
Maybe that's why they are there in the first place...

It's better than a nursing home where you pay $4000 a month. It may be my retirement plan.

Re: Prison Distilling
This doesn't sound very true. I doubt that they are freeze stilling even after a basic run. The etho would be to high to make any real ice at all, let alone have to break anything thing away.

Prisoners are automatically desperate and I applaud their tactics. Non-prisoners should look closely whether they are prisoners or not.

My brother has been in and out of prison for years. He's in permanently now... He says the "pruno" that they make is good. I think that's BS! Some of my "good" homemade wine is just nasty. Couldn't imagine drinking rotten fruit strained through socks or whatever. But I suppose you do what you have to....

I heard a story a few years back of a woman who lived out her last 10 years or so on a cruise ship. When they asked how she could afford it, she said it was $400 a week, had an amazing medical staff, room service, buffets, entertainment, and beautiful scenery. She said she planned on staying on cruise ships until she died.
Sounds like that is the better plan!

It sure is, I didn't know they had nursing homes on boats. I'd rather live out in the country, away from the crazies.mealstrom wrote:King Of Hearts wrote:It's better than a nursing home where you pay $4000 a month. It may be my retirement plan.
