Dang, We live back in the hills of West Virginia and I just went out and bought 20 gallons of fuel for the generator. Callin' fer a foot of snow on Tuesday due to the east coast storm and our ancient power grid is guaranteed to leave us in the dark.

8 lineman take care of 3 counties. Gonna be interesting.

Next year we'll have a whole house generator installed and life will be good. :D

They're predicting snow in my neck of the woods and people are just losing their damned minds, but I'm not too worried personally. Even if my power does out, everything else in my house is gas.

No internet or TV? Guess I'll have to fall back on older forms of entertainment... Now we just have to wait and see if that means a new kid or a new whiskey.

I'm at extreme opposite end of the state, as far from the Big Apple as you can get and still be in NY...

Got good breezes and some rain, that's bout it ..............

Road this bitch out in DC. Wasn't as bad as some I've been in, but not the kinda thing you'd want to take your first date to. Got pretty wet, and the wind blew a bit, but it's nearly morning now, and most of the lights are back on in the city....Sorta wishing I'd of brought a little homemade with me for the trip...but may not have time to drink much of it for the next few days anyhow....hope everyone got through without loss...

My friends in Virginia just outside of DC reported that he and his wife did shifts as their house is prone to flooding underneath bought two sub pumps and did shifts to make sure they didn't fail. Looks like they made it through the night. Hope everyone further north where it hit the worst are all right. I am with BD, watched on the news last night and she looked bad. Glad I am on the other coast where are biggest worry is earthquakes.

a few branches down, and the creek's swollen, we're just far enough inland to escape the wrath.

Feel bad for all the folks near the coast and the 4 or so million w/o power ... one big storm!

River rose quite a bit and is still 8 feet above normal, slowly going down today.

Lost power for a few hours, punched a hole in a beer cap and strung it with twine. Add a beer bottle of fores and I've got a hurricane lantern. Plus it gave me an excuse to drink all the beers in the house. "Who knows how long the power will be out, we might need more lanterns."
