Re: doubled keg pot still
well, id thought of that. technically the thumper should be atleast a fourth the size of the boiler. 7.5 X 4= 30gallons. and on top of that i normally run the kegs as slow as i can which gives me around 140proof (with the colums packed). the thumper would allow for 180 proof and as a slobber box jus...

Re: doubled keg pot still
im heating with two 58,000 BTU burners. i set the kegs on cinders and the burners are bolted into two stainless bowls upside down with a steel circle around it. ill post pics of the burners when i get back into town.the only problem with the setup it propane refils get expensive when running.

Re: going bigger the easy way
theres been times i have packed the colume but its just easier to run without. i have a small pony keg that i put all distillate in and run normally in the hundred seventy proof range. i just swap kegs around depending on what im running. i love the tri clamp! makes it a hell of a lot easier

going bigger the easy way
i got a 15 gallon keg with 2in copper coming out with a tri clamp. i picked up a second one but instear of buying anothe piece of 2in, i think im gunna just use a 2in to 3/4in reducer, to a 90', then drill a hole for a couple into the existing 2 in and sodering. its alot cheaper and faster.

Re: clouding after tempering
its gotta be the water im using. because i didnt have this problem when i used distilled water in my mashes instead of tap. i think that, and using tap to cut down on proof is causing this to happen.

clouding after tempering
im not sure why it did this but i watered down 2qts of 120proof down to 90proof yesterday and for some reason both jars got cloudy overnight. both jars were perfectly clear before hand, so today instead of using bottled water i tried some with tap water and it barly clouded at all. ive never had thi...

did some swaping and sampling with a friend the other day and tried his stuff out. burned blue(100proof or better) but it was extreamly mellow. tasted like you were taking a bite straight out a peach. great stuff. almost no burn to it and clear as water. which brings me to this, i have takin the hea...
